Ahmed’s “clock” It was Friday, Sept. 11, the 14th anniversary of the most devastating foreign military attack in history on the U.S. mainland. Ahmed Mohamed, 14, was sitting in his Irving, Texas, English class when an alarm went off inside a briefcase the youngster had with him. When he opened the briefcase to turn off the alarm his teacher went to inspect the device, which did not look like a “clock,” but more like a homemade improvised explosive device – the kind of contraption that would never make it, for instance, through a TSA airport check.

Amir Benayoun is a popular Mizrachi Israeli singer/composer with a small problem. He’s not left-wing, and sometimes his songs are political commentary — and not from a left-wing perspective. One of the major financial backers of President Barrack Obama's 2012 re-election campaign has been indicted in an alleged multi-million dollar insurance swindle. Kareem Ahmed, the president and CEO of Ontario firm Landmark Medical Management, is accused of masterminding the scheme and is facing charged of conspiracy, insurance fraud and involuntary manslaughter, according to TPM. WASHINGTON, (AP) -- The Supreme Court said Friday it would not prevent the U.S. from transferring an Algerian army veteran from Guantanamo Bay to his home country. Ahmed Bel Bacha, who has been held at Guantanamo for five years, has argued he would be tortured if turned over to Algerian officials. One of at least two dozen detainees who have expressed fear of abuse if sent home, Bel Bacha asked the court not to let the U.S. send him back to Algeria.
