An estimated 14 million more people would lose insurance coverage in 2018 under the new Republican healthcare plan, according to a budget analysis. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO), a nonpartisan group of budget analysts and economists, released its assessment on the long-awaited Republican bill. It said the number of extra uninsured would jump to 24 million by 2026. The bill would also reduce the federal deficits by $337bn (£275bn) over the 10-year period, according to the CBO. Those savings could help House Republicans sell the legislation to some conservatives who remain sceptical about costs. President Donald Trump has backed the...

President Trump met with a number of Americans deeply and negatively affected by Obamacare at the White House Monday as the administration tries to sell the American Health Care Act. "Our rates are three times what they were before Obamacare started. We have one provider in the county," Carrie Couey of Colorado said. "We have very little options for what we can and cannot do. We are a small business, but we aren't brick and mortar we are cattle ranchers. We can't afford our equipment anymore if we're paying these rates year after year after year. Our food source...

Ignore the grandstanding on Capitol Hill and the noise coming from town-hall protests around the nation. The Republican bill to repeal and replace ObamaCare will boost your chances of getting a job and cut your tax bill, not to mention your insurance costs. The repeal bill — called the American Health Care Act — also will stave off a tidal wave of future Medicaid spending that threatens to drown the states and Uncle Sam in red ink. Here’s how. No more penalties. If you’re among the 8 million people getting whacked with a tax penalty for not enrolling in an...

WASHINGTON (AP) — Fourteen million Americans would lose coverage next year under House Republican legislation remaking the nation's health care system, and that figure would grow to 24 million by 2026, Congress' nonpartisan budget analysts projected Monday. The figures dealt a blow to a GOP drive already under fire from both parties and large segments of the medical industry.

Leaders of conservative groups that oppose the House Republicans’ health-care bill met with President Trump at the White House on Wednesday night, part of a high-profile effort to quiet anger from the right. In the process, the conservatives heard the president and his team express some openness to tweaks to the bill that go further than House or Senate leaders might accept.

As House Republicans hurtle toward shifting the nation's health-care system onto a more conservative path, nearly lost so far in the roiling debate over their plans is the profound impact they would have on insurance for the nation's poorest and most vulnerable residents. The proposed American Health Care Act would break with the government's half-century compact with states in helping to finance Medicaid, which covers 68 million low-income people, including children, pregnant women and those who are elderly or disabled. The House GOP's legislation would end the system in which the government pays each state a specific share of all its...

“False lips are an abomination of the Lord, but those who work faithfully are His delight.” Proverbs 12:22 The lying being employed to preserve Obamacare has likely surpassed the degree of intensity of the Gang of Eight immigration bill when Republicans were trying to convince conservatives the bill was the opposite of what it actually did. At the time, they lied about the nature of the bill, its outcomes, its cause and effect, and the entire premise behind it. They used conservative talking points to describe something antithetical to what was actually in the bill while at the same time...

Congressman Louie Gohmert (98% CR) (Badass constitutional conservative – TX), appearing on Fox & Friends Saturday morning, reminded America that the House and Senate with Republican majorities, already passed a full of repeal of Obamacare and sent it to Obama’s desk in 2015, and that bill met the requirements of the so-called “Byrd rule,” which allowed for its passage through the budget reconciliation process — meaning that a full repeal of Obamacare could again pass the Senate with only 51 votes and be sent to President Trump’s desk (Obama, of course, repealed the 2015 bill). “We did a more complete...

"This is the bill, but if there are ways to improve that bill to give people greater confidence that we all are going to arrive at the same place where ObamaCare is done and we repealed it," Pence said. He said that they are committed to following through on President Trump's campaign promise of repealing and replacing ObamaCare. "President Donald Trump is a man...

The key problem with the draft House health care bill is that it fails to correct the features of Obamacare that drove up health insurance costs. Instead, it mainly tweaks Obamacare’s financing and subsidy structure. Basically, the bill focuses on protecting those who gained subsidized coverage through the law’s exchange subsidies and Medicaid expansion, while failing to correct Obamacare’s misguided insurance regulations that drove up premiums for Americans buying coverage without government subsidies. That is both a policy problem and a political problem.

The plan to repeal and replace Obamacare unveiled by House Republican leaders on Monday orders insurance companies to charge people 30 percent more in premiums for a full year if they did not have insurance for 63 days or more in the previous year. The sections of the Republican bill that create this mandate on insurance companies are titled: “Continuous Health Insurance Coverage Incentive,” and “Encouraging Continuous Health Insurance Coverage.” The first subsection of the “Encouraging Continuous Health Insurance Coverage” section is entitled: “Penalty Applied.” This subsection says insurance companies “shall” impose the penalty. “[A] health insurance issuer offering health...
