The Jet-Age Gladiator DECEMBER 2013 BY JOHN LOWERY Ralph Parr is the only airman ever to earn both a Distinguished Service Cross and an Air Force Cross. Having just landed from a combat mission, four pilots from the 334th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron walked casually from the squadron’s sandbagged revetments at Kimpo AB, South Korea, toward the operations building for the usual intelligence debriefing. The deafening engine whine of another returning flight of F-86 Sabres went up. At the time, all fighter-interceptor pilots instinctively checked the gunports of returning flights for the dark gray soot indicating their guns had been fired. This...

VIDEO Somehow this Magic Mojo makes the BEST barbecue chicken I have ever eaten. In fact it really makes the ONLY barbecue chicken that I have ever really liked since until I ate this Pollo Rojo, I have never been really satisfied with any barbecue chicken previously. This marinade affects not only the taste but, just as importantly, the texture of the chicken. If anybody out there knows what is in this Magic Mojo they marinate the chicken in, please let me know in the comments.

I feel like it’s “spring ahead” Sunday all over again. Which is to say I overslept…and I never oversleep! So here I am an hour late. I’m just going to wish everyone a Happy Saint Patrick’s Day. Originally intended to celebrate the fact that St. Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland in the 5th century, and later drove all the snakes out, it is now nothing more than another excuse to overindulge in whatever you choose to overindulge in.My choice is this fine Irish soda bread that Raj made yesterday…loaded with “sultanas.”Although I would like to note the “mass” protest held...

So it was indeed (just proven in court papers) “last in his class” (Annapolis) John McCain that sent the Fake Dossier to the FBI and Media hoping to have it printed BEFORE the Election. He & the Dems, working together, failed (as usual). Even the Fake News refused this garbage!

On 8 March, 2019, joint hearings were being held on SB1000, a bill that would effectively abolish the appeals process to the Maryland Handgun Permit Review Board (HPRB). The sponsors of SB1000 are all Democrats. A former member of the HPRB wished to testify about claimed inaccuracies about the Board that was printed in a Baltimore Sun editorial. The joint committee only allowed one minute for comments. It was not enough for Shari Judah to finish her comments. She refused to give up the microphone when asked to do so. From mdshooters.com: Today in the joint hearings in Annapolis, former...

“If it’s Sunday, it’s Clarice,” is the eager expectation of tens of thousands of devoted fans of Clarice Feldman. Alas (for us), on this Sunday and the next two, we will be without her wit and clarity. Clarice is taking a well-deserved vacation and is visiting places far away, seeing and experiencing new things, including some pretty remote and exotic itineraries. But on April 7, all will be right in the world again, as she will be back and delighting us with her observations of the week just ended, and maybe a story or two about her trip.

NYU: Muslim students claim Chelsea Clinton responsible for New Zealand massacre because she criticized Ilhan Omar Call out Islamic antisemitism, and you’ll be responsible if some madman massacres Muslims halfway around the world. The endgame here, as always, is to stigmatize and demonize even the slightest, mildest critical word about Islam or about any Muslim individual or group. The result will be to make it absolutely impossible to call out Islamic antisemitism or to enunciate any opposition to jihad terror or Sharia oppression. These people are not intellectually consistent. They assume here that any criticism is tantamount to incitement to...

A 19th-century penny that miraculously saved the life of a British World War I soldier is set to go up for auction next week. The penny belonged to Private John Trickett, who kept it in the top breast pocket of his uniform as a "poignant reminder of home" during the war, SWNS reports. While on a French battlefield fighting German forces in 1914, a German soldier shot at Trickett. The bullet hit the penny, nestled firmly in Trickett's breast pocket, ricocheted through his nose and went out back of his ear, Maureen Coulson, Trickett’s granddaughter, said. “Everyone in our family saw...

Nicole Eisenberg’s older son has wanted to be a star of the stage since he was a toddler, she said. He took voice, dance and drama lessons and attended the renowned Stagedoor Manor summer camp for half a dozen years, but she was anxious that might not be enough to get him into the best performing-arts programs. So Ms. Eisenberg and others in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., the affluent suburb where she lives, helped him start a charity with friends that raised more than $250,000 over four years. College has been on their radar since her son was in diapers. “We’ve...

Eight year-old Jack Wilson was on a weekend visit to his grandparents' house in mid-December 2016 when he informed his grandmother that his name was really Jacquelyn. "Grammy, my name is Jacquelyn," he complained as he walked into the room and sat down at the kitchen table for lunch. He had just received Christmas presents from friends of his grandmother addressed to "Jack" and was visibly upset. "Why is that your name?" Amanda Wilson, his grandmother, asked in response as she set a plate of chicken and rice in front of him. He replied: "Because I'm a girl now." "What...

"NASA astronauts endure weeks or even months exposed to microgravity and cosmic radiation—not to mention the extreme G forces of take-off and re-entry," says senior author Dr. Satish K. Mehta of KBR Wyle at the Johnson Space Center. "This physical challenge is compounded by more familiar stressors like social separation, confinement and an altered sleep-wake cycle." "During spaceflight there is a rise in secretion of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, which are known to suppress the immune system. In keeping with this, we find that astronaut's immune cells—particularly those that normally suppress and eliminate viruses—become less effective during spaceflight...
