  • I'm No Longer Using imgbb dot com For Posting FReep Images

Effective immediately I won't be using the free image hosting service called imgbb.com. Over the last 2 weeks I've noticed a HUGE increase in pop-up ads in my lower right hand corner of my monitor (whether I'm online or not all), many ads seem legitimate software upgrade offers, but others are invitations to date various women of Asian countries. These small pop-up ads all have the source listed as ibb.co, which I've discovered is originating from imgbb.com. With all of my image posts I may be spreading this same '3rd Party Cookie' advertisements to my fellow FReeper's, so I've decided...
  • Trump's supporters rain down insults, boos and laughter at reporters kept in media pen at Iowa rally

It started badly and then just got weird. Arriving at the mid-America arena in the city of Council Bluffs, Iowa, we were drenched in cold rain — part of a front that even brought early snow to nearby Nebraska. Our plan to get the views of flag-clad Donald Trump supporters queuing to see the President literally had cold water poured on it and we ran for the press entrance. No worries — we'll just mingle and find some people to talk to inside, I thought. But, no. When we picked up our press pass we were ordered straight to a...

I liked it when the howling loonies started pounding on the bronze doors of the Supreme Court like Brett Kavanaugh was totally going to open them up and invite the freaks in to air their many stupid grievances over a hot cup of Too Damn Bad. I also liked it when Lindsey Graham dissed that silly shrieking harpy as he adjusted his tie and smirked. And I liked it when Jesse Kelly channeled Andrew Breitbart by heading down to the protest with a t-shirt that said “Hands Off My Uterus.” I liked a lot of things about last week, and...

Police arrived at White Plaza early Tuesday afternoon in response to a call from Stanford College Republicans (SCR) President John Rice-Cameron ’20, who alleged that Melinda Hernandez ’21 physically assaulted him at an SCR tabling event the group was holding in support of Brett Kavanaugh’s recent Supreme Court confirmation. Hernandez and multiple other witnesses denied these allegations, claiming that she touched him without force.

Senator Lindsey Graham criticized Hillary Clinton, Eric Holder and the Democratic Party on Wednesday for their behavior towards Brett Kavanaugh and their recent rhetoric during his appearance on “The Story” with Martha MacCallum. MacCallum began the conversation by showing the clip of Hillary Clinton saying there’s no room for civility in politics, which originally aired during a CNN interview on Tuesday. “I would say that if you think what happened to Brett Kavanaugh was civil, we have a definite different view of what civil means. Civil means that you do not destroy a good man because you want power. You...

I'm trying to help out a gentleman who told me that at one time his HP all-in-one machine (OfficePro 8710) could fax out wirelessly. Not being up to the very latest technology (the guy tells me oh, no problem, it's wireless) I wonder where the interface to the phone network is? Does HP operate a private interface to the phone network on the internet to support its all-in-one machines? He says no, the machine was not connected to a phone line. Is he pulling my leg? Misremembering? I can't find anything in the manual explaining how it happens.

  • Before China iCloud spy chip allegations, Bloomberg published five incorrect stories about Apple

    Apple Insider ^ | October 10, 2018 | Daniel Eran Dilger
Media personalities have been bending over backward to find a way to square the claims made by Bloomberg in its "China Hack" story with a series of strongly worded denials from Amazon and Apple insisting that the report was "wrong and misinformed." However, there is solid evidence that Bloomberg has previously published a series of false claims before, either from a lack of research coupled with bad perspective, or possibly to simply craft a dramatic narrative. Truth versus imagination of possibility The tantalizing idea —as if ripped from the pages of a spy novel —that Chinese hackers had implanted chips...
  • Woman Thrown Off Plane For “Emotional Support Squirrel

    10/10/2018 9:32:10 PM PDT · by Simon Green · 83 replies
Miniature horses may be allowed, but squirrels? Not so fast. A wheelchair-bound woman in Orlando was thrown off a Frontier Airlines flight for refusing to part with her so-called “emotional support” squirrel. Frontier Airlines Flight 1612, bound for Cleveland, was set to depart Tuesday night when a “situation” developed onboard. A passenger had indicated that an emotional support pet would accompany her when booking her reservation, but never indicated what type of animal that would be. Turns out it was a squirrel. Squirrels, according to Frontier’s guidelines on emotional support animals, are not permitted onboard: We do not accept unusual...

White Double of the Second Class IN THE SIXTEENTH CENTURY, even amidst their many divergences, the so-called Reformers agreed in utterly rejecting all the honors paid by the Catholic Church to the Blessed Virgin Mary, on the grounds that such veneration of the Mother detracted from the supreme worship due to her Divine Son. Four centuries have more than sufficed to show the result of so doing: the Son has followed the Mother! The descendants of those who refused to Mary the title and rights of Theotokos,—Mother of God—refuse to Jesus the title of Son of God in the...

"Today felt very much like an update of the 1850s: Two very distinct parts of U.S. that no longer care to even fake that they respect or value the other," wrote Ron Brownstein. But should the idea of the U.S. amicably breaking apart scare us? Maybe it should be welcomed and vigorously debated. Michael Malice, the author of cultural commentarys, pointed out in a 2016 Observer article that the United States has "never been united culturally." Which made him question our determination to remain united politically. "The real conundrum," he wrote, "is why two cultures should attempt to move forward...

What does it take to earn a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology ? What does it take to earn a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology ? What does it take to earn a Degree in Experimental Psychology ? Wouldn't a person be required to learn how to identify and counter a person's attempt to 'control and manipulate'...

With the DNC email leak clogging up airtime on the media, the FBI was tasked with figuring out who let their finger off the plug. They tasked one man with the job: James Baker, the FBI’s General Counsel. Baker has a very close friend: James Comey. The two have a long history together, and in January 2014 Comey tapped Baker to become the FBI’s top lawyer. They had been longtime colleagues at both the DOJ and for a spell at the private Bridgewater Associates.

I don't see it," said Joyce, speaking at a U.S. Chamber of Commerce cyber summit in Washington, D.C. today, according to a subscriber-only Politico report viewed by MacRumors. Talk about a headache. When Mount Vesuvius erupted, the explosion caused such extreme heat that victims' skulls exploded, their blood boiled and their muscles, flesh and brains were replaced with ash, according to a new study. "New investigations on the victims' skeletons unearthed from the ash deposit filling 12 waterfront chambers have now revealed widespread preservation of atypical red and black mineral residues encrusting the bones, which also impregnate the ash filling the intracranial cavity and the ash-bed encasing the skeletons," the study's abstract reads.
