OKLAHOMA CITY – After legalizing the recreational use of marijuana, Colorado is at the heart of a lawsuit. The Denver Post is reporting that Nebraska and Oklahoma have filed a lawsuit with the U.S. Supreme Court, asking the justices to strike down Colorado’s legalization laws. The Colorado attorney general’s office says the lawsuit alleges “that Colorado’s Amendment 64 and its implementing legislation regarding marijuana is unconstitutional under the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution.” “Because neighboring states have expressed concern about Colorado-grown marijuana coming into their states, we are not entirely surprised by this action,” said Colorado Attorney General John...

Now they're canceling 'The Interview' because North Korea threw a hissy fit? Man, this is such an embarrassment. I have no idea if this movie is any good or not. It sounds pretty stupid and it has Seth Rogen in it, so I doubt we're dealing with Citizen Kane here. Still, that fat little psycho in North Korea deserves to be ruthlessly insulted. Mocking genocidal maniacs is as American as apple pie. I'm all for it. As long as we remember that, as enjoyable as it is to make fun of this puffy dimwit, there really isn't anything funny about...

A BBC investigation for Panorama has exposed poor working conditions in factories making Apple products in China. The undercover team secretly filmed the iPhone production line and found Apple's promises to protect workers were routinely broken. One undercover reporter - making parts for Apple computers - had to work 18 days without a day off. Other workers were filmed falling asleep. Apple say they will investigate any concerns brought to them. The BBC's Richard Bilton reports from Shanghai. [VIDEO]
  • Ted Cruz’s 2016 plan is somehow both smart and really dumb

Earlier this week, National Review’s Eliana Johnson reported on how Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) plans to approach the 2016 presidential campaign: “His strategists aren’t planning to make a big play for so-called independent voters in the general election if Cruz wins the Republican nomination,” writes Johnson. “According to several of the senator’s top advisers, Cruz sees a path to victory that relies instead on increasing conservative turnout; attracting votes from groups — including Jews, Hispanics, and Millennials — that have tended to favor Democrats; and, in the words of one Cruz strategist, ‘not getting killed with independents.’” The plan has...
  • Famous Today, Forgotten Tomorrow (We've forgotten Hope & Crosby. Will we forget the Beatles?)

Tributes to two of the most famous American entertainers of the 20th century serve as a reminder of how fame flees. The entertainers are Bing Crosby and Bob Hope; the reminders are the documentary “American Masters: Bing Crosby Rediscovered,” which had its premiere last week (and will run again on Dec. 26 ) on PBS, and “Hope: Entertainer of the Century,” a new biography by Richard Zoglin. Neither Crosby nor Hope have much cachet with contemporary consumers of art and culture, but the accounts of their careers make convincing cases that their contributions still influence their respective fields, even if...

Economists long argued that, just as buggy-makers gave way to car factories, technology would create as many jobs as it destroyed. Now many are not so sure. At a Silicon Valley hotel, a bellhop robot delivers items to people’s rooms. Last spring, a software algorithm wrote a breaking news article about an earthquake that The Los Angeles Times published. Although fears that technology will displace jobs are at least as old as the Luddites, there are signs that this time may really be different. The technological breakthroughs of recent years — allowing machines to mimic the human mind — are...

Former heavyweight champion Ernie Terrell of Chicago survived 15 punishing rounds in a ferocious 1967 fight with Muhammad Ali. An irate Ali wreaked havoc on Mr. Terrell, who had called him Cassius Clay instead of addressing him by his then-new Muslim name. Ali danced around Mr. Terrell and repeatedly jabbed him in the match, shouting, “What’s my name?!” ... Mr. Terrell, 75, who lived for decades near 111th and Halsted, died Tuesday at Little Company of Mary Hospital of complications of Alzheimer’s disease, his wife said. He was 75 ...
  • Minneapolis Principals Not Allowed to Suspend Black Students, Only White Ones

The Minneapolis, Minnesota, school system has a big problem. According to Superintendent Bernadeia Johnson and the Justice Department, the vast majority of its 2,300 teachers are racists. To solve this problem, Johnson says the district must implement racism against white and Asian students. It is part of President Barack Obama and the Justice DepartmentÂ’s new protocols to combat racism. But does it really make sense to try to solve a perceived racism problem in teachers by institutionalizing racism against innocent students? Does using racism to solve any kind of problem make sense? HereÂ’s what is happening: Black students in Minneapolis...

Is Slick Willie up to his old tricks? Some Twitter comedians seem to think so. This picture above purports to be the former president standing next to the wife and daughter of New York City grocery magnate John Catsimatidis, the owner and CEO of Gristedes Foods, the largest grocery chain in Manhattan, along with other ventures. This Bill Clinton image ran wild across social media, and for whatever reason, the wife was cropped out in some of the retweets. “It was at a recent function with the Catsimatidis family that the buzz-building photo was apparently taken, with the former president...

A principal has been reassigned after a misspelled sign was displayed for more than a week outside a New Jersey public high school. The message on the sign above the entryway to Paterson’s Public School Number 20 included three mistakes: December was spelled "Dicember," report as "reepor" and a "1" was placed backwards. After the gaffe was picked up by several local news outlets, Antoinette Young, the school's principal, was reassigned as a vice principal at a different school.

Tight end Jared Cook and wide receivers Kenny Britt, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey and Chris Givens will attend after practicing for the home finale against the New York Giants on Sunday. The shocking news Wednesday that Governor Peter Shumlin (D-VT) has abandoned plans to introduce his long promised single-payer health care system to the Vermont Legislature in 2015 was a huge victory for conservative new media. As observers on the ground in Vermont confirmed Thursday, Breitbart News led the way. “Governor Shumlin would not have reversed course without Breitbart News and Michael Patrick Leahy exposing the Gruber factor and bringing the story to front of the public discussion in Vermont,” Darcie Johnston of Vermonters for Health Care Freedom told Breitbart News on Thursday. “Breitbart News and Michael Patrick Leahy’s laser focus...

It took only about 48 hours after the launch of a “Don’t be Yellow: Dump Boehner Now Campaign” to allow constituents to encourage their members of Congress to reject Ohio Rep. John Boehner as speaker for more than 250,000 letters to be ordered on their way. “It appears this campaign will generate millions of letters by the time Boehner reconvenes the House,” said WND CEO Joseph Farah, who started the effort.

Crude oil production from U.S. wells is poised to approach a 42-year record next year as drillers ignore the recent decline in price pointing them in the opposite direction. U.S. energy producers plan to pump more crude in 2015 as declining equipment costs and enhanced drilling techniques more than offset the collapse in oil markets, said Troy Eckard, whose Eckard Global owns stakes in more than 260 North Dakota shale wells. Oil companies, while trimming 2015 budgets to cope with the lowest crude prices in five years, are also shifting their focus to their most-prolific, lowest-cost fields, which means extracting...
