On the 30th annual World Day of Prayer, Pope Francis met with leaders of the worlds religions to pray for peace, insisting that God is a God of Peace. There is no god of war, Francis proclaimed during morning Mass, celebrated in the chapel of his residence in the Vatican. War is the work of the Evil one, the devil, who wants to kill everyone, the Pope said in preparation for a day dedicated to praying for peace.

Perhaps Mr. Francis ought to read Mr. Augustine’s treatise on Just War theory in Suma Theologica?
I think perchance that Mr. Augustine’s thought is a bit more thorough than his.
Catholics ought to consider this leader’s philosophy more critically.
They have lost their way!!!
They periodically go on retreats which, I believe, are nothing more than brainwashing sessions.
My family never left it.
It would have been better if I'd grown up on the East Coast.
Muslims don’t heed the Pope.
Dear Pope Francis,
there patently IS a god of war
he’s called Allah by his adherents
and Satan by the Church
FYI.
No, no, no, silly. The Pope said that God doesn’t “do war”... so that must have been someone else that ordered them to slaughter every Amalekite man, woman and child, obviously.

Mr. Pope should read his Bible more.
Psalm 144:1
Blessed be the Lord my Rock,
Who trains my hands for war,
And my fingers for battle
Romans 13:4
For he is Gods minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is Gods minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.
Matthew 10:34
Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.
Revelation 5:5
But one of the elders said to me, Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.
Revelation 6:3-4
When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, Come and see. Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword.
Luke 22:36
Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.”
Jesus teaches on principles of war:
Luke 14:31
Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
Revelation 19:11
Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.
Whatever happened to the concept of the “Just War”?
For that matter, what about self defense?
If he recognizes a right to self defense, how is personal self defense different than national defense?
Well, the priesthood is a bureaucracy, and all bureaucracies have the same weaknesses. Why spend a lot of time studying the Bible when studying the current fashionable trends in the bureaucracy will help you advance a lot quicker?
It was those sneaky Baalists, whispering in the Israelites’ ears when they were sleeping.
A vast West-bank conspiracy?
The Church of Rome has produced many Giants. But at this crucial time; sadly we have a pygmy who is truly an ignoramus.
The Papacy rose to the occasion in defending Western Civilization from Islam when it mattered; at Cordoba, at Jerusalem, at Lepanto, at Vienna; among many sites.
By the way, Mars was the God of War.
There’s nothing like the sophistication of Jesuit scholarship.

add students Mugabe and MoonBeam to that list.
Remember the Catholic teaching on the Just War? Forgot?
How about clueless. Can the Catholics impeach him? Just sayinn’
I disagree Mr. Pope...
Pacifists only disarm the defender, and never the attacker.
That'd be Gideon.
He’s not atypical. More than one Pope in the past
has said that peace is superior to security.
If you get invaded, relax and enjoy it.
