On the 30th annual World Day of Prayer, Pope Francis met with leaders of the world’s religions to pray for peace, insisting that “God is a God of Peace.” “There is no god of war,” Francis proclaimed during morning Mass, celebrated in the chapel of his residence in the Vatican. War is the work of the “Evil one, the devil, who wants to kill everyone,” the Pope said in preparation for a day dedicated to praying for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:8:

A time of love, and a time of hatred. A time of war, and a time of peace.

Wow, disregarding the entire prehistory of Christianity. Was not Christ of the line of David, whose defeat of Goliath and rout of the Philistine army established him as one of the Great Kings of Israel? Where would Israel be if not for Joshua?

Francis hereby establishes himself as PINO.

I hope the senile old fool is called to his final “reward” soon now...before he does even more damage.

Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

So when the Moslem barbarians are pounding on the Vatican’s gates, they shouldn’t be opposed by force. Right Frankie?

And, more to the point, both of those victories were at the direct behest of God, who not only called them to their task, but told them exactly how to go about it (Joshua choosing only companions who drank water a certain way; David putting his chances of victory entirely in God’s hands).

There's nothing like the sophistication of Jesuit scholarship.

The last time the Catholic Church took a side in a war was the Spanish Civil War.

Kumbaya has officially returned as the official slogan of the Catholic Church. Aging hippies everywhere are dusting off their tie-dyed shirts and guitars in anticipation of the return of the “folk mass”.

Screwtape would disagree:

“Consider too what undesirable deaths occur in wartime. Men are killed in places where they knew they might be killed and to which they go, if they are at all in of the Enemy’s party, prepared. How much better it is for us if all humans died in costly nursing homes amid doctors who lie, nurses who lie, friends who lie, as we have trained them, promising life to the dying, encouraging the belief that sickness excuses every indulgence…And how disastrous for us is the continual remembrance of death which war enforces. One of our best weapons, contented worldliness, is rendered useless. In wartime not even a human can believe that he is going to live forever.”

Unto all things, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under Heaven. ...A time for war and a time for peace.

Probably need to read that Bible instead of using it to hold up your nightstand, Francis.
