UPDATE: an explanatory comment from my Guy Inside

“He’s fudging… he’s strongly implying infallibility, but not saying that he will pronounce infallibly.

“He wants everyone to come away with ‘Whoa… this is infallible. We hear and obey!’ but leaving plausible deniability to say, ‘No, no, I never claimed this particular bit was infallible….'”

No different from other Popes speaking ex cathedra. This is why we have a Catholic Church in the confidence that the gates of hell shall never prevail against it. The Catholic Church is not a Protestant mishmash.

Of course not. It's a Catholic mishmash. We have our own mishmashes. :-)

No different from other Popes speaking ex cathedra.

I'll bet you can't name five instances where that has been exercised.

“Finally,” explained Pope Francis, “the synodal process culminates in listening to the Bishop of Rome, called upon to speak authoritatively [It. pronunciare] as ‘Shepherd and Teacher of all Christians Catholics’: not on the basis of his personal beliefs, but as the supreme witness of the Faith of the whole Church, the guarantor of the Church’s conformity with and obedience to the will of God, to the Gospel of Christ and the Tradition of the Church.”

There, fixed it. He is neither shepherd nor teacher to Christians.

If anyone follows the church of Rome, it’s in direct violation of God’s word.

I don’t get how people who read the Bible for themselves don’t realize this.

If Francis were truly a Catholic Pope, I would take issue with the above statement. However, being as who he is, I don't even consider him to be either a shepherd or a teacher to Catholics.

My guess is that Pope Francis will be gone within a year or two, no more. Good riddance to him and his homosexual, socialist, and communist brethren.

Because Catholics unlike protestants are not in the habit of continually misinterpreting the Bible.

This is a silly article.

IMHO, the question is when PapaFran speaks against the revisionists and innovators, will he end up with the kind of grief PapaPauloVI got?

The wilder of the synod fathers are going for an Anglican style answer, one that takes a thousand words to say, “Whatever ... .” That’s the temptation and peril here.

I’m betting that if they push too far he will come out clearly against them. This, I think, is a warning shot.

Mary Queen of heaven?
Praying to saints?
The list is long, but stuff coming from Rome has nothing to do with the Bible.

I don’t know what individual Catholics believe. I imagine some are Christians but call themselves Catholics because that’s the term they know. True catholicism is not of God though.

I think you're wrong; Francis has been pushing this agenda since the beginning of his pontificate. He stacked the deck for this SinNod ,which has nothing to do with the traditional family but everything to do with adulterous or homosexual "unions".

Oh, yes, they have threatened to go to Rome and destroy the Vatican.

So if you are not Catholic don’t worry about it. Go play golf and STFU. We don’t intervene in snake handling. :-)

I have to worry about it, Jesus commands me.

Eventually what you’ll see is the Catholic Church and islam forming a one world religion. You can take that to the bank.

Then many of you seeing this will become Christians, at least I’d hope so. There’s a lot at stake.

Try to cut back on Meth and you will see that all of a sudden Jesus isn’t commanding you to attack the Catholic Church so much. I promise. :-)
