And yet, the Roman Catholic Church TEACHES the following as it appears in their Catechism of the Catholic Church:

841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."

Emphases mine. Makes for interesting reading.

Makes me wonder. "...together with us [Catholics], they [Muslims] adore the one, merciful God."

There's an implication there that both Catholics and Muslims adore the same God. Tried asking a question about it but can get no straight answer. Since it's taught by the Catholic Church, do Catholics believe that Muslims adore the God of the Bible?

There is only one God so anyone who worships God worships the same God.
Problem is the ROP concept of God: it is distorted.

I worship a God that is love. I do not worship a god that hates and kills. It’s really very simple.

Yes, I know:)

However, the question can be avoided if we look at the Hebrew. The answer is right there.

Muslims worship the God of Abraham, same as Christians. They follow the old law, Christians follow the new law.

This is one example of the current crisis in the Catholic Church comes into play.

Traditional/Pre-Vatican II Catholics will tell you that the Vatican II documents contradict centuries of Catholic teaching (VII is where we see this acclamation that we worship the same God as Muslims and the ONLY place).

Post Vatican II/Novus Ordo Catholics will insist that there is no contradiction and that we have to "interpret" the documents in the "hermeneutic of continuity" (ie. mental gymnastics) as if any such interpretation has ever had to take place before in the history of the Catholic Church.

Can’t believe folks are still asking that question.

Good grief, satan is obviously utilizing Islam to kill, steal and destroy.

I’ve not seen a peaceful Islamic society...yet.

And “church” that can’t discern that the Muslim god is NOT the God of scripture surely isn’t a church that Christ instituted. The Catholic statement in 841 clearly indicates the Catholic Church doesn’t recognize the difference.

Let's go to the source:

I am a member of a local Reformed Baptist church. If you ever visit Malta, whether for historical and cultural interest or just to enjoy the sun and the sea, you're welcome to visit our fellowship.

I was brought up in a devout Catholic family. I thank God for my parents and my Catholic teachers who taught me the fear of the Lord as best as they knew how.

Early in my teenage years, I was challenged with the Gospel message by my brother Paul, who had recently converted to the Evangelical faith. I turned to the Bible for answers. I wanted to know the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. How can a sinner like me be saved? After two years of studying the Scriptures, it pleased the Lord to show me the glorious truth of the Gospel and give me the gift of faith. From then on, I would not depend on my church, good works, penance or Mary for salvation. Now I trust in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. He alone died for my sins. He alone is my living Saviour who secures the salvation of my soul.

I left the Roman Catholic church a few weeks later, because I felt uneasy in a church that taught salvation by human merit. I still love Roman Catholics dearly. My website is a token of my love for Catholics.

Well, I’ll give him credit: the OP seems to be written by a Catholic.

Is that your opinion or the teaching of the Roman Catholic Catechism?

.
Allah, as described in the Qeran does not possess the attributes of a true god. He is demonstrably capricious, in fact downright flaky. His heaven is a place of concupiscence, and sexual perversion, while Yehova’s domain is free of all sexuality, where all who inhabit it are male.

How could anyone think they are the same God?
.

**How could anyone think they are the same God?**

That is an excellent question for the Roman Catholic Church.

It’s my understanding of the Quran, and how it compares with Christian apologetics.

Principally, it falls apart at Jesus. Jesus isn’t The Word in the Quran. The Triune God != Allah. The function returns ‘False’. There are many other places it fails, but that’s the easiest point of departure.

Jesus, in the Quran, isn’t the son of Allah, for example.

It’s just way, way different. Even the most liberal protestant faiths will admit to you they have no idea who the mohammedans are praying to, but they are pretty sure it isn’t God, and they are less sure about saying anything definitive about it.

Generally, when asked, they’ll reply, “Whoa! Let’s not lose our heads over matters such as this!”

I’m Catholic, but there’s no way I accept that Muslims share anything with my faith. Words mean nothing, actions speak truth. If my church leaves the faith, then that’s their choice. I don’t worship them, and don’t accept it’s leadership as infallible, which I’m sure violates some rule..ciest la vie. May God forgive me if I’m wrong somehow.

Note that the Catholic Catechism says that Muslims “profess to hold the faith of Abraham” — which is true — not that they “hold the faith of Abraham.”
