I concur, that isn’t the question.

OK then. No, they do not worship the same Triune True God. And former Muslims like Salman Rushdie and Walid Shoebat say it much better than I.

Rome seems to disagree.

I don’t remember where I read it but I believe traditional Catholic theologians explain that Catholics can not be material heretics because they are supposed to know the Faith.

Novus Ordo Catholics dance around the issue because they know something’s off big time after Vatican II but they’re not willing to deal with it. True Traditionalist Catholics (ie. those that are more concerned with traditional doctrine than the smells and bells of the Latin mass) at least try to wrestle with it. They come to different conclusions but they at least wrestle with it.

>>They come to different conclusions but they at least wrestle with it.<<

I will predict there will be a large exodus from the Catholic Church in the not too distant future.

With any luck that large exodus will include the modernists pseudo-leading the Catholic Church (and anyone who follows them thinking they are true shepherds).

Given the evident inclinations of this pope and the people he's putting into leadership positions I would be more inclined to think the opposite.

One can only imagine.

Especially as there is no defense.

OK, then.

Now aren’t Catholics obligated to obey and agree with the Catechism that says that muslims and Catholics worship the same god?

Do you agree that Catholics and muslims together adore the one true god?

YOUR pope kissing the koran. Fits right in with YOUR Catechism of the Catholic church.

http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P29.HTM

841 The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330

No, because paragraph 841 runs counter to (and you're gonna love this) Tradition. The CCC English translation had to be corrected as regards homosexuals already, the correction on what god muslims worship will come eventually... probably after the sacking of Rome, but still.

But Legatus paragraph 841 comes directly from the Vatican II documents. This is not just a translation issue.

You are correct, thanks be to God that VatII was merely a pastoral council.

Above my pay grade.

I would think the real objection is to, “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims...”

Plan of salvation? Also? First place?

As to which God, the statement does seem to make a backhanded slap at “these [who] profess to hold the faith of Abraham”. Profess but don’t?

Catholic teaching seems no more definitive than any other denomination.

We disagree on that. At least two documents were dogmatic in nature.

No, I don't agree with the above statement and JP II's catechism does have errors in it. As a matter of fact, the first edition was recalled because of outright heretical statements.
