No.

To Catholics:

If you accept Vatican 2, you think your Church is alive.

If you reject Vatican 2, you know your Church is dead.

No. I’m pretty sure that those who crusaded against the Muslims were Catholics....and it wasn’t in the name of Muhammed or Allah.

No.

The difference between Islam and Christianity is clear. Christ teaches forgiveness. Mohamed teaches killing. Killing is the nature of their religion. Killing is the god of the Muslim.

The example of Mohamed on forgivness Sahih Muslim, Book 17: 4206

There came to him (the Holy Prophet) a woman from Ghamid and said: Allah's Messenger, I have committed adultery, so purify me. He (the Holy Prophet) turned her away. On the following day she said: Allah's Messenger, Why do you turn me away? Perhaps, you turn me away as you turned away Ma'iz. By Allah, I have become pregnant. He said: Well, if you insist upon it, then go away until you give birth to (the child). When she was delivered she came with the child (wrapped) in a rag and said: Here is the child whom I have given birth to. He said: Go away and suckle him until you wean him. When she had weaned him, she came to him (the Holy Prophet) with the child who was holding a piece of bread in his hand. She said: Allah's Apostle, here is he as I have weaned him and he eats food. He (the Holy Prophet) entrusted the child to one of the Muslims and then pronounced punishment. And she was put in a ditch up to her chest and he commanded people and they stoned her. Khalid b Walid came forward with a stone which he flung at her head and there spurted blood on the face of Khalid and so he abused her. Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) heard his (Khalid's) curse that he had huried upon her. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Khalid, be gentle.By Him in Whose Hand is my life, she has made such a repentance that even if a wrongful tax-collector were to repent, he would have been forgiven. Then giving command regarding her, he prayed over her and she was buried.

The example of Jesus on forgivness (John 8:1-11)

But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. Early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began to teach them. The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court, they said to Him, "Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act. "Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?" They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground. But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court. Straightening up, Jesus said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more."

Christ is the “messenger” of *my* God...mohammed is the “messenger” of theirs.Comparing the two “messages” it's clear that their “god” is a monstrous psychopath while mine is merciful.

The conclusion is inevitable: the god of Islam is not the same God of the Holy Scriptures.

I am glad that conclusion was reached.

The Koran and Hadiths go out of the way to get that message across.

You have to be totally ignorant of the Koran, like George Bush, to even think Christians and Muslims worship the same God. -Tom

If you say that Catholics and Muslims do not worship the same God, then you imply multiple Gods. That violates the very concept of The One God. The best that you can do is to say that Catholics and Muslims have different understandings of the nature of God.

Catholics worship God who has a plan for them to be able to enter enternal life.
Muslims worship a God that has a plan and system to control and rule the wolrd of man with fear, oppression, death and destruction.

I would say the answer is NO............

The modern Catholic Church has defined her relations to non-Christian religions in a document entitled Nostra Aetate. The section on Islam begins thus: The Church regards with esteem also the Muslims. They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself; merciful and all-powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth, who has spoken to men. While it does not state explicitly that 'the one God' adored by the Muslims is the true and living God, this seems to be the natural implication. For why would Rome commend Muslims for this belief if their God was considered a false deity? Indeed, unlike their ancestors, many modern Catholics are convinced that they and Muslims worship the same God.

It is clear to me this could all be avoided if every Christian threw off the traditions of the past. This problem arises where the LXX uses "LORD" in place of YHWH ("Tetragrammaton") or Jehovah or Yehovah. We (Christians) had a chance with the advent of English translations to correct this. But we kept the Jewish and Greek tradition of using "LORD" instead of YHWH.

Our God has a Name. The Muslims do not share in The Name, YHWH.

That settles it for me. So no 'Allah' is NOT YHWH. The Muslims worship a different 'god.'

Well, the two trace back to a dispute over which of Abraham’s sons, Isaac or Ishmael, is the legitimate heir to God’s promise to him.

I would say that for the most part that Christians and Muslims do not worship the same God (although, perhaps the church of Westboro does).

But my question is, how many Christians worship the same God?

One the one side, we have those like in some that pray to a vending machine God that winks at sin.

One the other side, we see those in the Philippines who nail themselves to a cross.

It’s easy to create God in the imagine we like one that will be vengeful on the sins we dislike, while merciful for vices that we enjoy.

My point, is I think we have all been guilty on occasion of praying to a God other than the one in the Bible.
