From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

Got it door to door encyclopedia salesman.

Speaking of folks at your front door...

If you have cable TV, there won’t be much on to watch.

If there isn’t much on to watch, you will answer your door whenever someone rings.

If you open your door, you will see mormons.

If you talk to mormons, they will trick you into “praying about whether something is true”.

If you rely on your feelings, you may become a mormon.

If you become a mormon, you will have to wear magic underwear!

If you wear magic underwear, people will immediately label you as a cultist.

DON’T be a cultist!
Get DirectTV.

You did exactly what you claimed you NEVER do TODAY!

Go easy on him.

I sometimes wonder, "Now WHY did I just walk into the kitchen?"

Metmom I noticed that you have been on another thread and may have forgotten to answer these questions. Boatbums and Rnmomof 7 maybe one or both of you could ask her why she keeps dodging my direct questions.

So three questions: 1) Is it common for prots to post with out sourcing for validity?

2) Who gave James the authority to promulgate this definition?

3) Why is his definition more valid than anyone elses?

You ran from answering these questions before, let's see how you handle it now.

Those Sola Scriptura definitions have been shown to Catholics enough times now that any repeated twisting of the meaning can only be considered intentional. Wasting time down your rabbit trail is folly.

Yeah you said somebody I just put it where it fit.

If that were true you would have read who it was addressed to and done nothing.

Well what the churches job?..they should help shepherd the flock and shepherd lead...

One of our Catholic friends on this thread seems to content the Catholic Church and only the Catholic Church is the one and only gatekeeper / bouncer for acess to Christ...

“You are right, and Crim has said he is doing some of that...taking a break anyway?”

“Yeah you said somebody I just put it where it fit.”

So you knowing made a false statement?

And you also said.

“Libel is the use of false, defamatory claims about someone in written or printed form.”

So exactly when did I say I was going away to pray?

Should you be banned?

No worries...I’m not the type to run to the mods every time I get a butt hurt.

But it’s pretty clear that someone is.

ah I see...so apparently the Pope was supposed to grab a machine gun and charge the german lines....

And since he failed to do that....he is guilty of aiding the holocaust.

As for the charge of “doing nothing” made several times....

The Pope did act behind the scenes on occasion. During the German occupation of Hungary in March 1944, he, along with the papal nuncio in Budapest, Angelo Rotta, advised the Hungarian government to be moderate in its plans concerning the treatment of the Jews. Pius XII protested against the deportation of Jews and, when his protests were not heeded, he cabled again and again. The Pope’s demands, combined with similar protests from the King of Sweden, the International Red Cross, Britain and the United States contributed to the decision by the Hungarian regent, Admiral Miklos Horthy, to cease deportations on July 8, 1944.

In the later stages of the war, Pius XII appealed to several Latin American governments to accept “emergency passports” that several thousand Jews had succeeded in obtaining. Due to the efforts of the Pope and the U.S. State Department, 13 Latin American countries decided to honor these documents, despite threats from the Germans to deport the passport holders.

The Church also answered a request to save 6,000 Jewish children in Bulgaria by helping to transfer them to Palestine. At the same time, however, Cardinal Maglione wrote to the apostolic delegate in Washington, A.G. Cicognani, saying this did not mean the Pope supported Zionism. The church did often help baptized Jews, but was less enthusiastic about assisting Jews who did not abandon their faith.

So did he “do enough”...no of course not......did he “do nothing”.....nope...he obviously “did something”.

And yet still.....there is the issue of the Protestant Reich Church.

Jesus says the blood is the fruit of the vine...

Actually, in the context that we are discussing, Jesus says that the fruit of the vine is His blood.

It was my answer of a good conscience before God of what HE had done within my soul. That really is the ONLY baptism that counts.

Nope...the first one counted just fine and you were freed from original sin at that time...drop dead and go straight to Heaven..

Your second Baptism was merely a reenactment of the first...didn't hurt you, didn't do you any real benefit either...mentally maybe....otherwise nothing.

He turned his back on them. Even his own people pleaded with him to act and he did little and when he did it was only for those Jews who had converted to Catholicism. When he found out they were still practising Jews their passports were revoked. Concerning Poland it was even worse.

"Wladislaw Raczkiewicz, president of the Polish government-in-exile, appealed to the Pope in January 1943 to publicly denounce Nazi violence. Bishop Preysing of Berlin did the same, at least twice. Pius XII refused." [Israel Pocket Library, Holocaust, p. 134.]

But it wasn’t”God the creator of the universe” speaking!

Yes it was...otherwise this salvation thing is just a farce...Jesus was God.....I and the Father are One...remember now??
