From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

Nice try....but no...historians dont agree with you.

Nice set of atheist authors you cite as experts, no Nazi Propagandists available? Toss in a few non-biased Catholics, with no reason to soft pedal the Catholic church's history. The other 'historians' that treat JATL as a “first work of modern anti-Semitism". Please, he wasn't even the first in his century. Catholic and state instituted actions against Jews predate Luther by a millenium.

.
So you are doubting that the assembly that God’s word says exists really exists?

It has existed since Adam, and it consists of all that Yeshua died to save. It is the same remnant that Yehova told Elijah he had, and it has to still exist today, or Yeshua would have been wrong when he said that the “gates of hell will not prevail against it.” He promised in that same passage to expand it on the expressed faith of his disciples in himself.

Actually much of what they got was from the Protestant Margaret Sanger

Perhaps the genetic BS, but the actions taken against the Jews were well practiced by the Catholic church.

>>I’m questioning the existence of what was claimed to exist.<<

It looks more like it's trying to ferit out history and current local like the Catholic Church has done for centuries to eliminate those who oppose it. Stalkers are rather sly that way.

Got it door to door encyclopedia salesman. Honest to Pete I thought you were referring to SDA or Mormons. Went right over my head, I was so focused on the “religion stuff”.

It was vague and obscure reference. JW and LDS, in my part of the South.

I'm still waiting.

I tried to post to your last post to me to warn you about the first rule of holes, but I could not post to a removed post.

Looks like you want to learn the rule the hard way, you seem to be at the bottom of the hole digging furiously as the dirt is being shoveled back on you faster then you can throw it to the surface.

Just in case you forgot, here's the issue to gain a bit of credibility:

Perhaps you didn't understand my post to you. I was responding to this:
“You do know that accusing a poster of malice, libel or slander...actionable legal terms...can get you banned?”

Funny...didn't stop you from just doing it.

You are accusing me of accusing someone, on this forum, of "malice, libel or slander."

I asked you for proof I did that. Provide a link to THAT or retract your statement.

Looks like you are playing the "Nazi" card instead.

Answer quickly, because if I "read" the RF rules correctly, more posts may disappear...

No.

I’m doubting the existence of exactly what I did - that which was claimed to exist.

Yeah, history and evidence of the existence of what you claimed existed. Why would that a problem, if your claim is true?

John 3

Are you applying this to the existence of the claimed non-denominational gathering of Christians called the ekklesia, consistent since the time of Christ, etc.?

Invisible like the wind? Not a trace?

Point of clarification:

By “non-denominational”, are you meaning non-Catholic?

Certainly. This refers to absolute non-denominational.

Here's the description given by CB that I'm referring to:

The New Testament gathering of Christians was called the ekklesia. It had no "denominational" label. It has been consistent since the time of Christ.
Others, yourself included, have replied on the discussion. I don't know for certain if they agree with CB; if not it doesn't apply.

Yes, that definition works. You’re asking for something I cannot give you: names, dates, teachers, places, who came from where and when...that stuff.

Without being a church historian, which I’m not, the answers I have posted previously are about the best I can do at this time.

I cannot tell you how the Body of Christ got here to the Carolinas but we did and here we are. There are different members of the Body of Christ all working jointly by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Best as I can discern, the members of this Church Jesus Himself founded, seem to be located all over the world. I bet there are a few in your local Catholic church as well; but fewer and fewer I hear, just as in many mainline Protestant churches, of which I am no longer a member of one.

“Riiight...just like you do on threads about former Roman Catholics converting to Protestantism or Evangelicalism” Show me one. In the years that I have been posting I cant ever recall a thread about a Catholic converting to protestantism or evangelicalism. Please surprise me. Show me one and if it does exist show me where I ranted and raved and called the guy a lunatic? The vast majority of the Religious forum are threads started by Catholics. I guess that’s because protestants are not proud of their faith. Now get busy and show me threads about Catholics that jumped to the protestant faith. Happy hunting.

I think your memory is failing you. I didn't even need to do a search. You did exactly what you claimed you NEVER do TODAY!

On a thread entitled The Conversion of a Catholic Priest, you commented:

It’s tough being a Catholic priest. Obviously he was not called to be a priest. It just took him a while to figure that out. The other part about “being saved” is nonsense. When I read that I knew then he never believed to start with. Devout Catholics do not abandon Christ in the Eucharist. He was never devout. End of story. (post #25)

Please keep believing that nonsense. He left the priesthood because he was not cut out to be a priest. He was also never a believer. (post #44)

And, a thread posted yesterday entitled Conversion from Roman Catholicism to Biblical Christianity, was attacked out of the gate by many RCs who ranted and raved over the GALL of someone posting a thread about RCs leaving.

There was a thread posted just over a year ago entitled Why I Am Still an Evangelical Protestant [And Not Roman Catholic]. As expected (by now) it generated a firestorm of ranting and raving from FRoman Catholics (nearly 400 posts) who cannot, it seems, even tolerate a personal story of conversion away from Catholicism into Evangelicalism. It didn't matter that this man's faith journey helped him STAY in Christianity and not slide into Atheism, because for some it is unacceptable for anyone to ever leave Rome. Awfully one-sided.

I posted a thread last year entitled Romeward Bound: Evaluating Why Protestants Convert to Catholicism, many vociferous comments from the usual RC suspects and you made the following comment:

“Show me a list of “notable Catholics” leaving to become Evangelicals? You will be hard pressed to come up with a list. But a list of notable Protestants converting to Catholicism is as long as your arm. People who think and research gravitate to the true Church. Americans don’t, by and large, think” (post #28)

How many deathbed “protestant” conversions can you come up with? (post #30)

Is it starting to come back to you now?

Though I have repeatedly said the Religion Forum is dominated by Roman Catholic threads, I don't at all believe it is because "protestants are not proud of their faith". Quite the contrary, in fact, as should be obvious by the many comments posted by non-Catholics at Free Republic who aren't at all afraid of stating why we disagree. I think RCs actually abuse the RF and try to make all of Free Republic appear as an offshoot of the Vatican and hostile to Protestantism/Evangelicalism. The proof is the torrent of negative, insulting, mocking and snarky comments posted by RCs on the threads that ARE posted on the RF by non-Catholics.

In light of the past few weeks of threads posted by RnMomof7 that have been all about what non-Catholics believe and why we believe it and why we aren't Roman Catholics, it should be obvious that your ideas of the motives behind posting of threads is way off base. I'm sure you will disagree, as expected, but you cannot honestly claim "Protestants" aren't proud of their faith. I can't help it of you refuse to READ them.

My, my...I don't recall ever discussing anything with you before, yet here you are already hostile towards me right out of the box! Is it because you know I'm a non-Catholic Christian and you don't tolerate discussion with us? Perhaps the RF isn't the right place for you seeing as you have already had run-ins with the Religion Moderator on this thread?

I answered your silly question about Hitler. You don't like it? Too bad. That's all you're getting from me. Buh-bye!
