Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

That is because the purgatory is entry to life everlasting, and not a destination in itself.

Purgatory is a complete fabrication of the Catholic church to coerce money from its constituents.

If Mary was sinless, I don't think she would have been subject to death.

That's correct because it's sin that causes death. No sin = no death.

And no sin means no need for a savior.

No, I'm looking at exactly the time when Messiah said those words.

"Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men" (Mat 16:23-24 AV).

This is the Peter who, when the chips were down, firmly denied relationship to the Nazarene.

"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven" (Mat 10:32-33 AV).

You were saying . . .?

....I believe it because there is enough physical evidence to convince me... Oh? I'm unaware of ANY.

You should read up on it, there were tens, if not hundreds of thousands of eye witnesses to whatever happened. I, unfortunately was not there so I can't give testimony about anything. There have been an untold number of miraculous healings attributed to events there and there are crutches, braces, wheel chairs etc. etc. etc. that people have walked out of and left there.....Who knows??? worth taking a look at I guess....nothing official, just probable.

I seem to recall, however, that there is no time in Heaven Says who?

Isn't there something like a minute is like a thousand years, is like eternity is like a moment, is like it doesn't really matter????(NOT A DIRECT BIBLICAL QUOTE)

I wonder if you’ve got the cajones to come and meet a group of Catholics in a bar and say the same things to them - face to face?

Catholics do love their booze.

Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
-- Matthew, Catholic chapter eleven, Protestant verses two through six

Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
-- Matthew, Catholic chapter twenty six, Protestant verses thirty one and two

The prophecy had to be fulfilled. All the Apostles left Messiah; John returned first, and he was with the blessed Virgin of Israel, Miriam/Mary the mother of Jesus, God with us. All Messiah's apostles, sans Judas, were saved while they were with Him, just like He said. I'm not sure where you get your teaching. It seems to me you do not believe what this verse says.

While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
-- John, Catholic chapter seventeen, Protestant verse twelve

She was blessed among women for sure, and deserves respect, but sinless? No. Tery, I know you probably don't like that, but it seems like I have said this a hundred times. We will just have to agree to disagree.

Let's see now....the Catholic church, which Christ personally founded on the Apostles has, after 1,900 years of examining the facts, listening to some of the most learned people who have ever lived, and utilizing the promise to them that they could NEVER err, proclaim that Mary was born without original sin nor was guilty of serious sin during her lifetime. Then along you come, once basking in the light of Catholicism, now under the influence of a 1933 start up denomination and you tell me that she was a normal sinner. I'm trying real hard to decide which source I'd rather have as a guide to salvation..........O.K., I've decided to stick with Crhist's church....and in this case, I'm very happy that we disagree....

what does oooops mean here????? anything attributed to Mary is accomplished through the power of God. She was assumed(taken) into Heaven, didn't go under her own power as did Christ and like Moses, Elias, and various Angels, if she appears on Earth it is through the will and power of God.................who else?????

Let's see now....the Catholic church, which Christ personally founded on the Apostles

Disagree

the promise to them that they could NEVER err, proclaim that Mary was born without original sin nor was guilty of serious sin during her lifetime

Let me see, three issues there, disagree, disagree, and disagree.

a 1933 start up denomination

Disagree, it is not a denomination. You should do better research, and yes, I DID respect my military buddies.

O.K., I've decided to stick with Christ's church....and in this case, I'm very happy that we disagree....

You do that, and I am also HAPPY we agree to disagree on virtually EVERY issue. See you at the pearly gates. Are you and St Peter going to welcome me in when I get there?

every man shall receive his own reward, according to his own labour. For we are God' s coadjutors: you are God' s husbandry; you are God' s building. According to the grace of God that is given to me, as a wise architect, I have laid the foundation; and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation no man can lay, but that which is laid; which is Christ Jesus. Now if any man build upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble: Every man' s work shall be manifest; for the day of the Lord shall declare it, because it shall be revealed in fire; and the fire shall try every man' s work, of what sort it is. If any man' s work abide, which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man' s work burn, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire. (1 Cor. 3:8-15)
Some fabrication.

1 Corinthians 3:8-15New International Version (NIV)

8 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. 9 For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.

10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.

1 Corinthians 3:8-15American Standard Version (ASV)

8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: but each shall receive his own reward according to his own labor.

9 For we are God’s fellow-workers: ye are God’s husbandry, God’s building.

10 According to the grace of God which was given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder I laid a foundation; and another buildeth thereon. But let each man take heed how he buildeth thereon.

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12 But if any man buildeth on the foundation gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, stubble;

13 each man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself shall prove each man’s work of what sort it is.

14 If any man’s work shall abide which he built thereon, he shall receive a reward.

15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as through fire.
