Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

I pass two Mary statues on the way to McDonalds and will silently pray a Hail Mary for each one. Usually on the way back, too.

Yeoman’s work that is done here every Sunday and is as boring and erroneous as ever. What a waste.

“Christian practices” essentially ended early in the second century, as noted by Irenaeus, and HIppolytus in their writings.

This is when the paganism of human nature began to form nicolaitan churches on a grand scale. Constantine’s ‘church’ is simply the most grotesque example. Its all in the Bible, where Yehova condemned it. ( for catholics, that means “Biblical.”)

>>The tenor of your argument is combative,<<

I know this was not directed at me but you are wise, as this has clearly raised hackles on me (and I am a lost Catholic, even!).

I shall withdraw from this discussion as I have referred it to those who are both more knowledgeable and wiser than I.

Then I contend you are dissing God Himself by worshipping a human being, praying to her etc.

Jesus said ‘I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father BUT BY ME’. (not Mary)

The veil was torn at Christ’s crucifixion wherein we no longer needed a human high priest as Jesus Christ became our High Priest.

I can't understand how anyone could think that simply asking someone for help who carried Jesus around in her womb for nine months and on her hip for a few years would somehow constitute "worship."

Jesus gave us a mother while he was impaled on the Cross. And we are just supposed to ignore her role?

>> “Why waste your time praying to a dead sinner who needed the same grace for salvation that you need? Why not go boldly before the very throne of grace?” <<

.
The answer to this is deceptively simple:

One can pray to the demon that answers to “Mary” without risking being rebuked for anything by the Holy Spirit.

The spirit behind praying to Mary and dead “saints” certainly isn’t the Holy Spirit, so it must be demonic.

Mary has no role; presently she sleeps “under the altar.”

mary's dead ... she cannot pray

Just because catholics SAY she's alive doesn't make it so.

Do we also “dis” God Himself by worshipping another human being, His Son, Jesus Christ, made man and sent to this world to atone for the sins of mankind?

Jesus Christ is wholly God and human. Worthy of worship.

Mary is human....you’re not equalizing the two, are you?

I keep wondering about what Jesus is thinking when somebody disses his momma.

I wonder how Yah'shua feels when people
diss His Birth on His Feast of Tabernacles.

And instead celebrate it on the Pagan feast
of the birth of Semiramis' son: Tammuz.

Certainly not.

That’s why we worship God and only respect Mary.

Good point; as equally effective as praying to the Golden Arches.

I mean this with all due respect; why would you pray to someone you ‘respect’? Where in God’s Word does He tell us to pray to anyone but Him or His Son?

What other people do you respect and do you pray to them?

I humbly recommend reading the Bible thoroughly as your eyes will be opened. The Catholic church does not advocate reading it for yourself, I know.
