Perhaps he no longer had the stomach for the Anglican part, in light of recent events.
BTTT!
I grew up as an Anglican, much as this story describes, before I converted to the Catholic Church as an undergraduate many years ago. I did so because, much as I had benefited from the Anglican Church, I came to the conclusion that the Catholic Church had the only claim to be the one, true, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church of the ancient creed. If my own conversion experience is any guide, it’s unlikely that anyone who follows such a path from Anglican to Catholic will turn out to be a liberal Catholic. I think converts to the Church usually tend to be more conservative and orthodox than those who were born into the Church but may not have considered all the issues.
This story makes a big thing about the Catholic bishops and the immigration issue. Their statements are not Catholic doctrine, but personal opinion, and I think most of us would agree that they are being foolishly misled. I hope and trust that that isn’t the kind of issue that is causing Sensenbrenner to convert. In fact, it seems very doubtful.
Let’s wait and see, eh?
I was aware that he had been considering this for some time.
Good for him!
Welcome home, congressman.
Hope he repented for all the evils he has done in Congress.
Oh, Boy.
Oh no, the liberals are mad, they want people to become Muslims.
No wonder Dolan is so quiet. He must be mortified to have been invited. A pro-life politician (i.e., a Republican) becoming a Catholic?
Congrats and WELCOME HOME!
