When Cardinal Bergoglio was elected pope in 2013, many traditional Catholics were wary. Recently, their pessimism is being justified as "The Francis Effect" makes itself felt across the world and in America, most notably in the Archdiocese of New York.
So-called "traditional" Catholics prefer to attend the Mass as it was celebrated before and during the Second Vatican Council (1962-5), before the liturgy was radically reformed in 1969.
The Tridentine Mass, which was the ordinary form of the Mass from 1570-1969, is said in Latin, often accompanied by Gregorian Chant and incense, and emphasizes the sacrificial aspect of the Mass.

So do you approve of gay marriages?
Excellent article and spot on.
Thanks for posting.
“Please explain to me what Catholic doctrine he has changed?”
That is not exactly the right question.
When people speak of leftism, they are usually referring to economic leftism (which makes a people poor), political leftism (which enslaves a people), and social leftism (which robs a people of moral standards and artistic discernment).
There is, however, another form of leftism-one that is rarely called by its name. This is theological leftism, and it may be the worst of them all, as it leads one away from God while insisting on its own superiority to outdated tradition.
We know that all leftism is of and from Satan. We observe that the proponents of leftism lie constantly, attempt to deceive, coerce those who wont be deceived, and extol the tolerance of evil—including abortion, divorce, sodomy, promiscuity, and even mass murder. This is true as well of theological leftism. It seeks to foment disobedience to God by appeal to a more modern, and therefore superior, understanding of the Bible.
When we seek to discern whether a given premise or movement is theologically leftist, then, we can look for several telltale characteristics.
1. Does it claim an understanding of Scripture that is superior to what existed before?
2. Do its proponents rely extensively on falsehood when discussing differences?
3. Do its proponents engage in coercion, either inside our outside their own group?
4. Does it claim the moral superiority of the tolerance of evil, particularly that which allows the indulgence of the sin of lust (divorce, sodomy, promiscuity, etc.)?
5. Above all, does it countenance the slaughter of the most innocent?
There are theological leftists within the Catholic Church, yes, but because its foundations are solid, they have been unable to bring it down. When His Holiness Benedict XVI was miraculously elected pope, it appeared, briefly, that evil within the Church had reached its high-water mark.
It seems to me that Benedict XVI had the Church moving in the right direction, but Francis yanked on the reins, hard.
So it’s not necessarily a matter of doctrine. Even today many people fail to see the harm done by altar girls. And since when is it okay to blatantly violate scriptural instructions (1st Corinthians 14 -34-37)?
If you really want to be Orthodox, do your masses in Aramaic instead of the decadent, Anti-Christian Eurotrash Empire.
I didn't know bells and whistles "contributed" to saving our souls.
I believe Jesus saves my soul.
Lol.
People do not understand what you call the sacred mystery...Otherwise there is no mystery...Some just accept it because they are told to believe it...Most don't believe it but accept it as part of the bigger religious propaganda...
But you are right...without the pomp there would be no draw to the Catholic religion...
Life itself is a mystery.
Of course people do not understand it. There is no propoganda involved unless one considers the bible to be propoganda?
“do your masses in Aramaic”
Ouch. Anti Christian Eurotrash Empire.
Jesus saves by Grace. Bells ring at the consecration to remind us that Jesus saves by Grace.
People forget easily. It is actually called recollection.
Martin Luther believed the same about his soul.
He ain’t changing anything. Now mark that down. You heard me say it first.
“I believe Jesus saves my soul.”
Only if you cooperate. He leaves you free to turn away.
And that is where “bells and whistles” play a role.
bumpus ad summum
But you implied people do understand the mystery if the Catholic pomp is involved...
Human nature is not able to understand the sacred mystery without the appropriate asethetics.
Are there conservative Catholics in New York?

Quite a lot of us, actually.
Isn't this what almost all Catholics do when they endorse historical criticism and evolution?
“Isn’t this what almost all Catholics do when they endorse historical criticism and evolution?”
No. Where did you get an idea like that?
