Trump vs. DeSantis, by the numbers
The Hill ^ | Keith Naughton

Posted on 06/26/2022 9:29:40 AM PDT by Oak007

Based on a casual reading of the polls, Donald Trump looks to have smooth sailing to the Republican presidential nomination in 2024 and the chance to erase the stink of losing to Joe Biden that he so covets. But if that’s the case, why does Trump seem so panicky these days? Simple: Trump is in trouble, and — when you dig into the numbers — his grip on the GOP nomination is getting more tenuous. It is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) who has all the momentum.

yep, the left is in a panic, they know that BOTH Trump or DeSantis can beat them!

Sooo they are hoping they will destroy one of both of them by getting them to fight each other.

DeSantis is too smart for this and IMO wont run if Trump runs.

Maybe I’ll poke him with that stick. He hates Nixon almost as much as he hates Trump.

If Trump wants to be President again, he’ll have to show us that he has learned from his mistakes in the past. The swamp outsmarted him. Only a few guys he could trust (Mike Pompeo, etc). Plus Trump is getting old. He needs to show us that he has the stamina by campaigning on the trail.

You took the words out of my mouth! But said it better than I could have.

I've gotten raked over the coals for saying things like this.

" It would not be DiSantis v Trump. It would be Trump v DiSantis and the entire arrayed capabilities of big tech, big media and big government. The media have been very successful in helping to select the Republican nominee over the years. As much as the left and DC despise DiSantis, he’s a mild irritant to them compared to Adolf Trump."

So we should choose our candidates based upon whom the left hates less? And what's with the "Adolph Trump" horse shit? DU much?

The use of the phrase “Trump worshiper” reveals what you are, and it is not a conservative. Please troll elsewhere.

I've gotten raked over the coals for saying things like this.

If DeSantis is not running, I'll vote for Pompeo. That's about it although I might vote for Rand Paul if he's running.

Trump is no longer the incumbent President so we'll have to stop treating him like it.

I'll be thrilled to support Trump in the General Election once he proves to us that he is capable of winning and I believe he can do it. But he has to show it to us first.

Hang in there. Different opinions make it more interesting. Being a noobie is hard here, especially if you don’t join the herd mentality.

You make a couple of thoughtful points. The truth is that many posters have lately decided who will be the GOP presidential nominee for 2024 and their decision is final. Sadly, this is a mirror reflection of what has happened to dems. (And it’s more than just a few.) I have been called stupid and told to shut up and go away because I said I wished Trump would stop endorsing people after Dr. Oz won the primary in PA. Truth is I laughed about it. I’m 71, and it reminded me of an outrage from a child who needed to be spanked. Besides, as a public school teacher, I’ve been called just about everthing.

Exactly.

Reagan was an actor but so much more, as his Presidency revealed.

Trump was good, but clumsy. And he got outflanked by the DC Swamp. It wasn't right, it wasn't fair, say whatever you want, but he got rolled by Washington, and Reagan didn't.

And the level of Reagan-hate among the Democrats, media, and left-wingers was just as intense as what Trump suffered. The difference was no internet in the early '80s, and the MSM gatekeepers kept the crazies (like Kathy Griffith) out of the public eye. They were there just the same.

Trump has nothing to prove to anyone.

He is the Alpha Male in the GOP exactly because he was and is fearless with confronting what is wrong in the party.

Well did our Lord and Saviour describe your behavior in Matthew 23:24:
You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

Regarding DeSantis, the intensity against him is not there yet. Perhaps after 4 years, the Left will hate DeSantis as much as Trump. But right now DeSantis is still new (sort of) and at this point, it is an advantage.

If you really think that the activatedCommunists ruling the Democrat Party now are not going to pull out all of the stops and treat DeSantis exactly like they are treating President Trump, you are whistling past the graveyard my FRiend!

Ah....I see. If a person is a conservative, but not a Trump worshiper, they are a Democrat.

Your use of the deceitful, pejorative term "Trump worshiper" tells everyone you are nothing but a troll.
