Don't know how lively this thread will be, but there is coverage of sorts going on so I figured it merited a thread for FReepers to comment on and post updates as they occur.

I’m optimistic that the majority of the jury are familiar with firearms and haven’t let the prosecutor scare them about the BIG gun Kyle carried. Very obvious that the prosecutor knows nothing about them but liberals seldom do.
I watched Kyle pull the names out of the drum. I was watching HLN and the experts thought it was a good idea by the judge. Yes, the family needs prayers and the jurors need good common sense. I think it’s going to be difficult for them to sort through the maze of instructions they were given but hope they are able to accomplish it.
Jonathan Turley, Dershowitz, Greg Jarrett, Pam Bondi, Leo Terrell last night seemed to think the result will be a hung jury or flat out acquittal. Hope not a hung jury with another trial to happen.
Having the National Guard on call in Kenosha is not a good sign - nothing like giving a signal that it will be OK if the rioters want to destroy the city if the verdict is not to their liking? Dumb move. IMO if the verdict is guilty, it will be because of that fear!
Kind of difficult keeping up with two trials (in WI and in GA) at the same time but I’ll give it my best!

In order to take the case from the jury, he has to rule that no reasonable jury would not find self defense. Sorry for the double negative. said another way, he can find that it is not possible to find that the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt, Kyle's use of force was not justified.
Said yet another way, he has to step into the role of a juror, and use juror's reasoning. "Hung jury" is not a decision on the merits, it is the result when individuals disagree on what the correct outcome should be.

The whole cause and method of the violent left is that career criminals (these 3, Floyd, Trayvon Martin, etc. etc. etc.) must be permitted to do as they wish.
They *never* pick an actual victim to call a victim. They call something a victim, gaslight everyone into thinking them pure, and it always turns out the vigils, riots, MSM weeping, etc. are in deference to the worst sort of scum.
They will do the usual dunder head Jury thing. The woke scum will keep talking until they convict Kyle of something.
Jury trials are moron fests. I would rather have a Judge rule on this.

Just remember, if you are able to defend yourself then you have forfeited your right to self defense. Probably the best thing Rittenhouse has going for him, especially with the crowd chanting outside is he drew the stupidest prosecutor in hailing distance of that Kenosha courthouse.

If I heard that chanting, my first thought would be "how do I protect myself out there?" "Why didn't I buy a gun?...oops can't bring a gun into a court house... hm... Kyle, not guilty!"
He's already convicted by half the country in the court of public opinion. Outcome of the legal case is not relevant to those people.
I know no way to predict a jury. Mob rule plays there to be sure, along with popularity contest. A few determined people with decent sense are capable of persuading the crappy thinkers.
I do agree that a single woke results in hung jury - or in post trial outburst that the woke was intimidated by the rest of the jury, that's another approach I have seen used. The press will host the woke and exclude the clear thinkers.
I predict the jury acquits before the end of today. This is not a hard case.

I guess it could. But, in every trial I’ve ever had a part of that was always the standard. Only consider evidence you heard in Court. Do not consider newspaper articles or gossip you heard at work, etc. If a juror introduced outside information, other jurors could report that to the baliff who would notify the judge. The judge would then have the option of removing the juror, or cautioning the jury that he/she could not consider such information as evidence.

Depends on the local DA and Grand Jury he empanels to decide that option. In a blue state, county or city, charges are almost a foregone thing the GJ will recommend.
Conservatives need to give up on the dream that they can ever receive a fair trial in a blue state . . .
It occurred to me that it will be a hung jury no matter what the outcome.
If the jury cannot decide, it will be a hung jury.
If the jury acquits on any of the charges, it will also be a hung jury, albeit hung in a different manner.
(I'll bet my day's salary it will not convict on all charges; it would have done that by now had a full conviction been its intention.)
Come to Texas and you might think different. I was on a drug case this past summer, and was picked as Forman. We convicted the drug dealer of possession of an eight ball is less than an hour. 4 men and 8 women. No one wanted to be Forman so I said, “ can’t be that hard, give it to me”.
Only problem was my name was listed on the legal documents of conviction, other jurors remained anonymous.
