Gregg Jarrett: Trump acquittal in impeachment trial is a humiliating defeat for partisan Democrats
Fox News ^ | February 5, 2020 | Gregg Jarrett

The Democratic scheme to evict President Trump from office, which collapsed Wednesday when a majority of the Senate voted to acquit him of impeachment charges, was an extravagant waste of time. Sadly, amid today’s feverish electoral polemics, rage has replaced reason.

Impeachment was always a fatuous and frivolous exercise initiated by House Democrats. Their constitutionally cited grounds were incurably weak and driven by a visceral hostility toward Trump.

Democrats who supported Trump’s impeachment and conviction were motivated by an irrational but overwhelming desire to avenge their loss of the presidency in the 2016 election, obscuring their reason and judgment. The politics of hate now predominates in Washington. Vilifying Trump is a blood sport.

Not a single House Republican voted to impeach the president. Only one Senate Republican – Mitt Romney of Utah, who was a Trump antagonist during the impeachment proceedings – voted to convict the president on Article 1 (abuse of power), but acquit Trump on Article 2 (obstruction of Congress).

Romney has a complicated and contentious history with Trump. The senator’s vote was no surprise. Last October, before he had even seen much of the evidence, Romney said the president’s actions were “wrong and appalling.” Trump fired back by denouncing the senator and calling for Romney’s removal. The feud has not abated and will surely persist.

Except for Romney, impeachment turned out to be exactly what it seemed – a partisan smear driven by political animus and personal disgust of everything Trump. Americans recognized it for what it was. On the eve of Trump’s acquittal, a Gallup poll showed that he had earned the highest approval rating of his presidency.

I don’t think that the democRATS are that stupid to go through this impeachment fiasco fully knowing that the outcome would surely result in an acquittal? Or is their hate that strong that they didn’t worry about failing????

Humiliating defeat in a baseless fight that they engineered under false pretext, and refused to tap their own brakes in poor conditions.

Not sure, but a House Rep is the one that posted it so it is legitimate.

They wanted that asterisk beside Trumps name

And they fully intend to put a second one there, too

Most likely before November, but even more likely if he wins, they’ll shove it through between Election Day and Jan. 1, 2021, when Nasty has to hand that gavel back to Republicans

Yeah, you’re probably right.

It is totally amazing to me that Schiff can get away with, and get lauding support for, his flat out lies, hyperbole, exaggeration.

He said Trump might ‘sell out the country’ to Russia. But who signed off on selling Uranium One to Russia, and collected $125 million+ to her foundation at the same time? Who went to a dozen or more American tech firms, solicited donations from them, and then encouraged them to move their technology to Skolkovo Russia under the pretext that they would expand their business overseas only to find that the Russians built the place to be a giant industrial espionage scheme to steal their trade secrets?

When Ukraine was being invaded and occupied in part by Russia, who refused Ukraine military assistance? When Syria was threatened by a constantly flip-flopping regime change policy, who stood aside and let some 50,000 Russian troops occupy the country getting warm water ports and a toehold in the MidEast for the first time since Carter ran them out at Camp David?

Who actually paid a foreign spy to go pay Russian spies for political dirt on their opponent? Which party sent operatives to the Ukrainian embassy asking for dirt on their political opponent. But when the SC Mueller was hired to supposedly investigate foreign interference in the 2016 election he didn’t look at any of this. Indeed he said Russians (not necessarily government agents) paid for ads that promoted Trump and damaged Hillary, ignoring the fact that they also ran ads that damaged Trump and promoted Hillary.

The list could go on and on. Whatever Schiff and the Democrats say is 100% projection of their actions and intentions. It is misdirection and they can get away with it because they have, by some means or another, nearly complete support by the establishment media and many (or most) of the political elite including some GOPers.

I’ll be astonished if the Dems don’t impeach Trump again before November.

And $$MONEY$$.

Our taxes paid for this sham. See tag. I hope someone figures up how much this cost and publishes the number far and wide.

Chair of the house. It means whoever was in the Chair.

Someone asked the Rep who posted that to take it down because after all the ruckus it caused it is now deleted.
