Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Friday said that if the House of Representatives were to impeach President Trump, the Senate “has no choice” and would have to go to trial right away.
McConnell told NPR on Friday that “if the House were to act, the Senate immediately goes into a trial.”

To repeat: Well, yes, Democrats are in control of the House now which is precisely why this is now happening. Pelosi is Speaker, Schiff is Chairman of the Intelligence Committee, Nadler is Chairman of Judiciary, etc. all because the Democrats control the House. More Republicans, none of this nonsense would currently be occurring. Elections have consequences. Nunes would not have opened a hearing lying about the contents of a memo or transcript like Schiff did. A Speaker McCarthy would not have announced an impeachment inquiry. Those are facts, and as the saying goes, facts don’t care about your feelings. It’s reality. Period.
A few (uncomfortable) “facts” for you:
1) Nunes was outrageously sidelined by a Republican Speaker.
2)Pelosi and Nadler do not control the Senate.
Currently, we are getting exactly zero from the GOP controlled US Senate while House Democrats and the Deep State continue their treasonous conspiracy against POTUS and his supporters.
That’s assuming the Republicans in the Senate have the balls to do the right thing and drop this nonsense
Constitutionally they don’t have a choice. The Chief Justice who presides could reject it.
I think a trial would hurt, regardless of who testify and what they say. No trial, don’t give the Dems what they want.

Getting a couple new parties that aren’t controlled by deep State and their corporations would be great. Roll everything back to before Lincoln and start living by the constitution again. Once money became the most important thing in the country it’s been steadily down hill.

When FBI can be used at 3:00AM to knock on Roger Stone's door and ultimately arrest him, all a set-up and on video, they can be convinced to do anything.
Just this week, 11 Repubics voted with Dems to end Trump's 'southern border emergency declaration. It's not a stretch to think that number could easily increase by 9 when it comes to removing President Trump.
When FBI can be used at 3:00AM to knock on Roger Stone's door and ultimately arrest him, all a set-up and on video, they can be convinced to do anything.

Sounds like Mitch is encouraging the rats to me. If the majority votes to impeach but not by enough to convict it will really hurt Trumps re-elect chances. So the rinos will be ok with handing the election to Warren or one of the others. I would not be surprised to see Mitch cut a deal with the rats to find a consensus candidate because Mitch knows Trump will not withdraw. I agree with another poster if this goes to trial ANYTHING can happen.
