Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Friday said that if the House of Representatives were to impeach President Trump, the Senate “has no choice” and would have to go to trial right away.
McConnell told NPR on Friday that “if the House were to act, the Senate immediately goes into a trial.”

All you folks who thought I was off base on McConnell, here’s the stark truth.
I was screaming at the top of my lungs to have Mitch removed as the Majority Leader. Well, here we are.
We’re holding votes against Trump we don’t have to hold. Now he says it’s his duty to hold a trial in the Senate if the majority in the House impeach Trump.
If they wind up removing Trump, it’s the end of this nation.
Mitch should step down today.

Well, yes, the Democrats are in control of the House now which is precisely why this is now happening. Pelosi is Speaker, Schiff is Chairman of the Intelligence Committee, Nadler is Chairman of Judiciary, etc. all because the Democrats control the House. More Republicans, none of this nonsense would currently be occurring. Elections have consequences.
Would a trial (where Trump can have many folks testifying under oath) help or hurt trump’s reelection?
