I have to apologize for my generation. I mean theres the appalling affinity for the Democratic Party, the safe spaces, the anti-free speech antics, the triggering, and the fetishistic fixation on victimhood through the patriarchy. A lecture on intersectionality, you say. Id rather chug bleach. So, I guess it wouldnt shock you at all that Millennials arent saving because they think capitalism will be a thing of the past by the time they reach 65. Emily Zanotti of The Daily Wire has more:

Is that the expectation? Or is the expectation that everything they may save for the future will be stolen and swindled from them?
If they keep voting for dems, it will be finished. Dems will make sure that the life savings of these people will be diminished by inflation, and become valueless.
That seems unlikely.
“Socialism being voted in is a fate accompli, once enough of us go to that great Tea Party in the sky.”
Lol, great line!
I don’t know about that. To me the âgreatest generationâ were those who existed through the great depression, fought through World War II and are mostly gone at this point. They instilled in their children the idea of hard work and savings. Along came the next one who were coddled by the âboomersâ and subsequent ones who seem to not have reverted to the morays of the Greatest as they have become more ensnared by a “benevolent” government. Sadly everyone today seems mired in the tentacles of the government. In fact to do anything outside what the âgovernmentâ approves finds one in trouble IMO.
You mean their parents and grandparents?
"When we're ready to retire, our home will be worth ten times what we paid for it. We'll sell it and live off the profit! Our stock portfolios are looking pretty good too since the politicians we voted for offshored all the factories and jobs to China! Sure, our grandkids will be kinda screwed but they're smart. They'll figure something out."
That is giving the youth far too much credit. That is NOT why they are not saving.
Culturally, they have not been taught to save, thus it is not a salient concept.
Should read “some” millennials. Asian family youth save money.
That’s not true.
As with these types of statements it is an overly broad generalization.
Look at the bias conclusion in the headline. The millenials I know save because they are pretty sure the government won’t be there to help them at all
While not stated this way, I would agree with the article.
Many Mill’s I meet or work with assume the game is rigged, that they have little chance at “winning”, and therefore would rather have a nice time than working hard.
Looking at it that way, I can see their point.
Which is sad, because if you save in your 20s, you won’t even have to save in you 50s, and you’ll still be pretty much set for retirement.
Too bad that didn’t dawn on me in time. LOL!
Given our current slope they might be correct.
With $80,000 in student debt—screw you government loans—99% of what I earn that doesn’t go to necessities is going to pay it down.
I’m lucky; I have grandparents that are kicking my tail-end really hard to show them that I’m earning enough money with hard work, and then rewarding me with a slowly growing IRA in my name.
The rest of my generation isn’t so lucky.
and we want to incorporate the “feelings” of these anti-Capitalist, socialists into our government??? The government we are trying to swing to the right.
Well, among my generation, just a bit older than the millennials, the belief is near-universal that we will never see a penny from social security and will be completely on our own for our retirement. Funny what a difference a decade makes.
“Free enterprise” is cool, but I don’t see how it extends past markets.
When you have over $100,000 of college loan debt and a $40,000 job, Bernie looks good.
