Weather apocalypse? A strange red sun and bizarre yellow/orange sky were visible in parts of the U.K. and France Monday as a result of Hurricane Ophelia.
The ghostly red sun was visible in the U.K.s south West, West Midlands, North West and North East, the Telegraph reports.

Pretty.
I don’t freak out unless the sky turns *green*.
socialists who cannot conceive of a world without them perhaps?
I’ve seen that here in the states- even have photos of it- it happened on an eerie stormy day- birds were goign nuts flyign oround i nthe high winds like they were enjoying it- sky was all yellow/orangy color-
Wonder if any of them prayed to God?
Because of fires out in several western states a few weeks ago, we had a few pink suns for a few days at sunset here in CO.
I’ve seen the sky turn green I happened to be in the middle of a tornado Supercell it was Eerie to say the least, I’ve also seen Red Skies.
That is precisely why I dread green skies.
Only saw it once, as I do not live in a tornado prone area but that was enough.
The fires are horrible.
Are they happening because they’re not thinning forests or what?
So the euros freak out about an apocalypse when there is a bit of dust and smoke in the air, but it’s just another day when one of their millions of muzzie immigrants drives a truck through a crowd of hundreds of people?
Here in the humid South, we see red suns through a good deal of summer near sunset. Pink ones, too.
I thought that was probably the reason you didn’t like green skies. I live in East Texas but I was in Oklahoma outside of Tulsa when I saw the green sky.
I think fires in Spain are worse right now too.
Happens in Southern France too, also called the Sirocco wind.
We don’t get tornadoes in the mountains *but* east of me is a huge valley and that’s where I have to go, to shop.
Unbeknownst to me, one day, I took off for town and at the eastern foot of the mountain, I looked northward and the whole sky was a sickly shade of green.
I stopped the car and brought up WeatherBug and sure enough, over the line in the valley towards PA, there was a tornado watch in progress.
Sky was a normal gray to the southeast so I went to town anyway.
It was surreal.
SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOOOOPLLLLEEE!!!
sorry had to be said....
:D
I live in a tornado prone area, so the green skies are fairly common here.
The CA fires in this instance are mostly grass and brush fires driven by high winds. Embers ignite the structures.
I was once “in front” of a field fire driven by, oh, maybe 15-20 mph winds, in very dry conditions. That was bad enough. The flames were maybe 20 ft. high. We only stopped it when it got to an area of (thankfully) mowed grass. Can only imagine same at 40-50 mph, or more.
