King Charles of the United Kingdom made the decision to be known as Charles III, and I hope he remembers that Charles I was beheaded in 1649, the only British sovereign to be executed. Charles I was a tyrant who believed in “the divine right of kings,” meaning to oppose him was to oppose God. The English Parliament did not see it that way, and a bloody civil war began ending with the beheading of Charles. Charles III will not suffer such a demeaning and disastrous fate, but his reign will be a debacle for Britain.

According to a metro.co.uk reporter at the scene people have suffered facial burns and a white container exploded towards the rear of the train. She said people were ‘really badly burned’ adding that ‘there hair was coming off’. The rear of the train filled with smoke and people were evacuated onto the platform at Parsons Green. It is also being reported that people were initially told not to leave the station before an evacuation took place.

The website of Nate Silver, the American polling expert, surveyed all of Britain’s public-opinion surveys on Election day in Britain and declared that the chance that David Cameron’s Conservatives would win a majority of seats “was vanishingly small when the polls closed — around 1 in 500.” But that is precisely what happened, leading Nate Silver to write a piece titled “The World May Have a Polling Problem.” He listed the errors that overtook “probably the four highest-profile elections of the past year, at least from the standpoint of the U.S. and U.K. media”: 1) The final polls in the...

There’s an old saying in Latin: Omni trinum perfectum (all things are perfect in threes). It is a saying that emerges from the Trinitarian Theology but is meant somewhat playfully.  The other day, however, something was announced that definitely is not perfect in threes. A frightening piece in the BBC News describes three where there should be two, or, two’s company but three’s an unnatural crowd. Here are some excerpts from the original article along with my comments in plain red text. The full article is available here: Three’s a Crowd! A public review into the three person IVF technique has been broadly supportive, says the Department of Health. In...

Named after the Celtic god of thunder, this £142.5million prototype was unveiled by the Ministry of Defence. It is the size of a light aircraft, has stealth technology that makes it virtually undetectable and has been hailed the pinnacle of British engineering. The craft, which will undergo flight trials next year, has an array of sensors to carry out intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. However, it also has the ability to carry bombs and missiles, giving it a potential long-range strike capability. And it can be controlled from anywhere in the world, via satellite communication. ‘Taranis is a truly trailblazing...

Almost unnoticed in North America, three major victories have been won in the United Kingdom against radical Islamist forces. Collectively, they represent the biggest successes on this front in a decade and may constitute a turning point. They include: the barring from the country of an extremist Hizballah leader, the government decision to break relations with a radical posing as moderate Muslim group, and the announcing of a new government policy on combating extremism.
  • 10,000 Britons die needlessly every year as GPs with out-of-date training miss vital cancer symptoms

More than 10,000 people die needlessly each year because their cancers are not diagnosed in time, a study says. The charity Cancer Research UK found GPs too often miss symptoms or do not send enough patients for tests. In some cases their training is simply out of date. The report says some people are deterred from seeking treatment by the difficulty of getting an appointment. And there is too little public awareness about cancer symptoms, meaning many victims do not see their GP until it is too late to save their lives. The result is that Britain's survival rates for...

SCHOOL chiefs are today under fire for banning pupils from wearing crosses in class while allowing the jewellery of other faiths. Christian groups and politicians condemned the education bosses and accused them of “double standards”. The officials have told headteachers to ban jewellery except in “exceptional circumstances” when schools need to be “sensitive” towards other faiths. The “exceptions” include lockets worn by Muslims and Hindu bracelets. But even Muslim leaders have joined the condemnation, arguing that all religious groups, including Christians, should be treated the same. The guidance, issued to headteachers in Croydon, south London, has echoes of the row...

DEMANDS for a ban on “un-Islamic” activities in schools will be set out by the Muslim Council of Britain today. Targets include playground games, swimming lessons, school plays, parents’ evenings and even vaccinations. And the calls for all children to be taught in Taliban-style conditions will be launched with the help of a senior Government education adviser. Professor Tim Brighouse, chief adviser to London schools, was due to attend the event at the capital’s biggest mosque. His presence there was seen as “deeply worrying”, and a sign that the report was backed by the Government. Tory MP Greg Hands said:...

While the UK’s Islamic advocacy groups whine furiously about “Islamophobia:” ’Wave of hatred’ warning as attacks on Jews hit record high. Attacks on Britain’s Jews have risen to the highest level since records began. A study published today shows the number of reported anti-Semitic incidents has almost tripled in 10 years, with more than half the attacks last year taking place in London. The findings prompted the report’s authors to warn of a “wave of hatred” against Jews. The number of incidents increased to 594 last year, up by 31 per cent on the previous year. Violent assaults soared to...

A BRITISH schoolgirl has been barred from wearing a crucifix necklace in class, the Daily Mail reported today. Samantha Devine, a 13-year-old Roman Catholic, was told by teachers in Gillingham, south-east England, that it breached health and safety rules, the paper added. Her family reportedly said it will fight the decision and has accused the school of discriminating against Christians because Sikh and Muslim pupils can wear religious symbols.

In defence of the white working class By Leo McKinstry Last Updated: 12:01am GMT 15/11/2006 Anti-racism has become the central theme of today's political culture, yet the obsessive concern for racial sensitivities rarely seems to be applied to the white working class. This is the one ethnic group that it is perfectly acceptable to insult and ignore. Once regarded as the backbone of Britain, the people who saved our country in two world wars, the indigenous, less affluent, sector of the population is now treated with contempt by liberal elitists, who sneer at the supposed idleness, vulgarity, xenophobia and ignorance...

At least four million Britons suffer from debilitating toilet phobias and most are too embarrassed to seek help, the National Phobics Society (NPS) said. The NPS, which works with people affected by anxiety disorders, has classified the "secret" problem of toilet phobia as an anxiety condition in its own right and is launching a new campaign to help sufferers. Toilet phobias range from a mild dislike of public loos to obsessions where sufferers refuse to leave their homes or even undergo potentially life-saving medical examinations. The NPS said extreme sufferers are often unable to leave their homes, deny themselves fluids which...

October 30, 2006 Economic view Why we should welcome a Democrat win By Anatole Kaletsky NEXT WEEK America will undergo its biggest political upheaval in six years. The monopoly of power enjoyed by President Bush’s Republicans is almost certain to be broken in the midterm congressional election on Tuesday. The latest opinion polls suggest that the Democrats will definitely take control of the House of Representatives, while the chances of the Senate also changing hands are slightly below 50-50, since only one third of Senate seats are up for re-election. George W. Bush will, of course, remain President, although there...

LONDON, OCT. 8, 2006 (Zenit.org).- In many countries speaking out publicly against homosexuality leads to serious legal problems. And in the battle under way to protect freedom of speech for Christians to express their beliefs, the future is far from clear. A recent victory in Britain saw legal charges against Stephen Green dropped, the Telegraph newspaper reported Sept. 29. Green was arrested by police in early September after handing out pamphlets at a "Mardi Gras" homosexual festival in Cardiff, Wales. The pamphlet contained Bible verses about homosexuality. During a hearing before a magistrate's court last week, the Crown Prosecution Service...

The Conservatives have recovered their opinion poll lead over Labour following their annual party conference, according to a new survey. The ICM poll for The Sunday Telegraph put the Tories on 38%, six points ahead of Labour on 32% with the Liberal Democrats on 20%. The findings come after an ICM poll last weekend ahead of the Tory conference in Bournemouth put the two main parties almost neck-and-neck, with the Conservatives on 36% and Labour on 35%. Asked who would make the better prime minister, 45% chose Tory leader David Cameron as against 34% for Chancellor Gordon Brown. The poll...
