California would become the first state in the nation to legalize psychedelic mushrooms if a long-shot ballot initiative passes muster with voters next year.

The measure is backed by a legalization activist who says he kicked his heroin habit with the help of a mushroom trip in Death Valley. It would exempt Californians over the age of 21 from a state law that criminalizes mushrooms containing psilocybin, the compound that gives some mushrooms psychedelic properties. […]

… California is one of eight states where voters have legalized marijuana for recreational use, and Saunders said legalizing psilocybin-bearing mushrooms is the logical next step.

But the hurdle for gaining ballot access is steep: To qualify, supporters will have to turn in more than 365,000 valid signatures of California voters, a difficult undertaking for even a well-funded campaign. …

Peyote is an endangered species of cactus because all those idiots in the southwest harvest and eat it or sell it.
They don’t seem to get the fact that it takes many years for a peyote cactus to grow, even to the size of a marble.
Then many more years for it to get big enough to flower and set seed.

"LINK OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN" is exactly what I said it was and still is.

I didn't take it for anything other than what unalloyed, mordant stupidity it is.

Why even bother to try to get it legalized?
Nobody gives a crap if somebody is out in a cow pasture picking LBM’s (little brown mushrooms), and we sure as hell don’t care if they are stupid enough to eat them.
Just so I dont have to pay the medical bills when they screw up and eat an Amanita or a Galerina.

I'm against marketing of physically addictive substances and corporations selling them to individuals (what happened with early patent meds).

Big pharma is still doing just that with their super-addictive opiods, benzos, amphetamines and hypnotics. Pharma reps have been caught encouraging doctors to create more addicts. And we pay for these pills and resulting addicts with our tax dollars!

I agree 100%. Such things should be outlawed.

However, banning PLANTS on PRIVATE PROPERTY for personal/research/family use is legislated IGNORANCE and tyranny! How can you stand for such an assault on freedom, science and nature?

Why can someone not grow their own medicine if it helps them live? Why must law abiding people be forced to pay OBSCENE money to corporations for medicine if it already easily grows in the ground???

There are states where you have to be licensed to collect wild mushrooms. So the game & fish agents can and do check your mushroom license AND inspect your catch.

If you have psychedelic mushrooms, you’ll be arrested. But if you have poisonous mushrooms, they’ll just seize the and let you go on your way.

‘Shrooms that make you see God: go to jail
‘Shrooms that make you go to God: no consequence other than losing your catch

You're a hypocrite, anti-corporations ( belong to Antifa or just a sympathizer? ), do NOT know the history of patent medicine, and want the legalization of harmful plants. Oh good grief..........

Not everyone knows chemistry ( hell most people ), couldn't make their own meds if someone'/s life depended on it, and don't understand the meaning of the words "tyranny", "freedom", "private property", nor "freedom"!

Here are a few factual history lessons for ya.....

Once upon a time, all substances that you want made free & legal, were sold for pennies, in drugstores, NOBODY knew just how addictive many of them were.

Ditto for the patent meds, that you sneer at; the makers and hawkers of those things ( some of which latter turned into very profitable, legal, products, which were sold for many decades and turned many an innocent into alcoholics and.or drug addicts; not to mention how many were killed, by using them )were not doing anything illegal, nor were they an more knowledgeable about how to cook up "cures", than the average person, you so want to be able to grow and make meds all on their own today are.

When Laudanum was legal and not expensive at all ! Baby farmers ( which is what women who ran private day and long term baby caring services, out of their own homes...especially in the UK ) used to rub laudanum on baby's gum to quiet them when they were teething ( as did many a nanny, nurse, and plain old mother, back when )and/or just to make them sleep/keep them in a stupor, hence quiet. Many babies were killed that way!

Also, back at the turn of the 19th into the 20th century, high class demimondaines took laudanum in fake suicide attempts, to get their ex-loves/money tickets back. Some died, instead.

Then there's the old, what some have called "kitchen witch" cures, that are also called "old wives' tales", but many of them work, aren't dangerous, don't use dangerous substances, can't do any harm, and they work! I'm all for that; however, it's an "art" that is dying out.

Digitalis is made from the foxglove plant and is used to treat people with heart conditions. Too much taken and even the best made medicine is toxic and yet, you want the average Joe Schmoe to grow and make it to treat someone who, just might be suffering from really bad GERD and/or has a hiatal hernia.

Or do you just want people to make their own opium, heroin, etc. ? *snicker*

HOW CAN YOU BE SO DAMNED STUPID, IS THE BETTER QUERY!

Oh utter bullshit

I’ve taken psilocybin prolly 50-70 times

You’re just blowing it out your ass

I don’t think it should be terribly legal either

Most folks can’t handle psychedelics frankly

Especially women

I.e. Manson lovelies

But they can be therapeutic under proper supervisoon

I know all these stories and already said I’m against sales of addictive things. The profit motive is obviously a conflict of interest. Prescription or no prescription the profit is there. Physically addictive meds should be provided to the sick as a civil service on a nonprofit basis.

“Or do you just want people to make their own opium, heroin, etc. ?”

YES. I grow most of my own food and herbs. Why in the hell can I not grow and process my own medicine for myself or sick family/friend without risking a damn bullet in the head from my own government? What if I simply wish to live offgrid without spending money?

WHY is it so accepted to ban ANY plant by barrel of a stormtrooper’s gun? Crazy!!

This is unAmerican Soviet style horseshit to control basic human needs and extract wealth! Wake up!

Neuroscience workshops. They’re handing out drugs thete?

Most foljs haven’t met one person who utilizes psychedelics and yet you claim to know hundreds.....I doubt you tested them to see if there was improvement. You are citing at best anecdotal claims. That ain’t science.

Please cite your studies

Still knowing so many dopers makes me wonder about you

No...YOU WAKE UP!

You're part Marxits/STINKING COMMIE and part benighted fantasist Randian; a horrid combination!

You don't have a degree in chemistry, pharmacology, nor are you a doctor. What you want to do is stupid and extremely childish!

Just how much of your own food DO you really grow?

Do you also keep livestock, chickens, and a chemistry lab in your twee home in NYC? In which borough?

And don't post lies...I'm a born & bred New Yorker!

You yearn to "go off the grid", do ya? WELL THEN, JUST DO IT! You won't be able to survive; I trow.

So personal...

I'm self taught in many subjects including chemistry and as a self employed professional have the ability to live between NYC and a rural location. I've lived offgrid there fulltime before. I also have another farm overseas a caretaker primarily watches but its still much work before anyone can live on it. I do serious vertical farming in NYC as well. Both backyard and rooftop.

If someone wishes to study and do something on their own time in their own home why threaten them with damn guns? Why get so violent over people's private life? Someone *might* hurt themselves so you want surveillance of innocent people and an army to bust doors down over the wrong plant?

I'm 100% anti-commie and pro freedom and anti government thugs. The WOD accepts the god damn government choppers watching us and jackboots pointing machineguns at people over some stupid little potted plants and mushrooms! Just stop for a moment and think about how absurd that is! Are you seriously supporting such a ridiculous thing? Common now, it's all just laughable...

Whee ! This slippery slope is a blast.

The solution would be to completely eliminate the welfare state, and order cops to shoot to kill rioters and looters. It would be messy for a few years, but people would learn that they must work or starve. And if they want to work, they'd better shape up.
