Senate blocks Trump from making recess appointments
Axios ^ | August 3, 2017 | Susan Walsh

Posted on 08/03/2017 6:32:33 PM PDT by Pinkbell

The Senate moved unanimously to block President Trump from making appointments during the August break this evening. Democrats had said they'd make such a move after reports emerged that Trump was considering replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions during the recess.

The Senate agreed to hold pro forma sessions throughout the recess. This procedure was also used to block appointments during the Obama administration.

Worth noting: the announcement was made by moderate Republican Lisa Murkowski, who split from Trump over health care. The Senate also made a slew of confirmations and passed several measures before shutting down for the summer.

Another update: The Senate will not hold any legislative sessions until September. Mitch McConnell had previously intended to delay the break until August 11 to allow the now-stalled health care plan to move forward.

the GOPe leadership is trying to undermine our new President ... even before he can do anything wrong!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They are trying to prevent him from doing anything right, especially enforcing the laws and borders.
Our country is in deep trouble because our elected officials do not represent us with a few notable exceptions like President Trump or Congressman Tom Massie of Kentucky.
I hope Roy Moore from Alabama makes it to the US Senate when the Special Election comes down with the first round August 15th.
He’s a vet who went to West Point, Vietnam and came home to be a lawyer, judge and was removed from office twice over matters like the Ten Commandments and same-sex marriage.
Those responsible for his removals, the Uniparty Republican political insider Establishment.
It is legal. There was a scotus case about recess appointments. Right now the magic number seems to be 10 days. Congress will be out more than 10 days thus pro forma sessions
So if positions do not get filled for 8 years, does that imply that the position and all of the government employees under that position are not needed at all?
Mr. I care so much about the Constitution Rand Paul didn’t even think this should be debated. By the end of the year it should be evident to everyone that voting is no longer the way to actually enact real change in the country
Imagine what the country would be faced with had President Trump not been elected? Our government is irretrievably lost in the hands of these traitors.
I know that was sarcastic but what’s off is the Senate club. When Trump threatened Sessions and it was appearing that he may be replaced with a recess appointment the Senate club was not going to allow it. Some of this is Trumps fault.
