Senate blocks Trump from making recess appointments
Axios ^ | August 3, 2017 | Susan Walsh

Posted on 08/03/2017 6:32:33 PM PDT by Pinkbell

The Senate moved unanimously to block President Trump from making appointments during the August break this evening. Democrats had said they'd make such a move after reports emerged that Trump was considering replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions during the recess.

The Senate agreed to hold pro forma sessions throughout the recess. This procedure was also used to block appointments during the Obama administration.

Worth noting: the announcement was made by moderate Republican Lisa Murkowski, who split from Trump over health care. The Senate also made a slew of confirmations and passed several measures before shutting down for the summer.

Another update: The Senate will not hold any legislative sessions until September. Mitch McConnell had previously intended to delay the break until August 11 to allow the now-stalled health care plan to move forward.

The end of the republic already happened on April 12, 1865.

Don’t believe this block is legal. President Trump can still remove Sessions and can appoint a new DOJ. This is BS.

it used to be considered proper and patriotic in USA for the opposition party to say, “we look forward to working with our new president and his party....for the betterment of all...blah blah” and they usually did it more or less, for at least the first year or so anyway...because...well, it was the right thing to do and because the entire country voted in the presidential election, after all..............

now, we have to witness the sickening spectacle of the opposition party...AND NOW EVEN the president’s own party leaders in Congress...undercutting him...and right from the git-go, too, before he could even do anything ‘wrong’ at all

this is sickening

Seriously, Donald Trump should just form his own party. He’s the only person in America with the clout and support to do that and make it viable. It will instantaneously become a major party. If we get 70% of the Republicans and 20% of the Democrats to join it, as well as a good share of the Independents, it could become the dominant party literally overnight.

Just to be clear, when Obama THE DEMOCRAT was President the Republican controlled House and Senate stopped him from making Recess Appointments.

Today with the Republicans still in control of the House and Senate they block Republican President Trump from making Recess Appointments.

Something is off, but I can’t seem to put my finger on it.

To: GOPe Means Bend Over Spell Run

The GOP don’t care if they lose the Senate if it means keeping President Trump from implementing his non-globalist agenda.

The voters who put Donald Trump into office, need to understand what is happening with the Republican establishment and their all out war against this President and the agenda of the American people.

And until we, the voters, start giving these RINOS HOLY HELL, this great President will not be able to carry out the major legislative promises that we want to see implemented.

A friend of my son is in the Navy and said that in his unit on board ship out of a hundred enlisted 2 were Trump supporters.
I would not bet on the military being on our side.

The Senate just told the American people to go to hell...

The “professional politicians” have declared that they, and they alone, run the country however they wish...The American voter doesn’t matter...

It’s going to get a lot worse.....

Please remind me again why we were encouraged to get Republican majorities in the House and Senate AND the White House? The Democrats are the enemy in front of us but Republicans are the enemy amongst us. I will have regard for the enemy who will stand in front of me but I detest the snakes - Republicans - in the grass.

Leave the innocent baby out of it, that angel was worth

I would agree but not when Congress will only grandstand on issues like foreign babies but dying Vets and issues and pealing and replacing Obamacare, cutting taxes and building the wall that could help millions of Americans, they couldn’t be bothered dealing with. Then it is not worth more. This only proves they are are charlatans.

Why is it that I feel that those SOBs in Congress who object, are looking to cover their asses and don’t want to be exposed? Do the American people really trust them? This isn’t politics for the people, its politics for self preservation.
