The blackmail tax bill just passed and now going to the Governor's desk. I pay about 6K per year in property taxes and fees. No kids in school after this semester. I can work remotely from anyplace with high speed internet.

We celebrated our one year anniversary in Emmett, Idaho yesterday. Moved away from Oregon, as we couldn’t take the commie nonsense anymore. We’re retired, so there weren’t work issues involved. Taxes are reasonable, & the sales tax here doesn’t bother us. Housing prices are good. I highly recommend it to those fleeing Dem-ruled states.
The mountainous outer suburbs northwest of Greenville, South Carolina is where I’d go if I were a northern tax refugee looking for a pleasant redoubt, in the east at least. East Tennessee around Tellico Plains is nice, too.
Don’t move to Texas. Property and sales taxes are both high here.
Florida, no state income tax, beautiful winter, spring and late fall. Flowers and greeen grass all year round.
Better leave now. If anyone thinks that this is the end of this, they are smoking some pretty intense crack.

There comes a time when you realize that all you are doing is feeding the monster. You then have two choices: 1) keep feeding the monster (pay your taxes) or 2) starve the monster (no more taxes).
Just remember, wherever you move to, NEVER,EVER say “Back in Illinois, this is how we did it.”
You can move anywhere - it’s trying to sell your Illinois house that will be the problem. People in Cook County will be giving their houses away just to move out.
Move the capitol there (again).

I have a lot of good memories of Iowa and some fairly good memories of St. Louis, at least in the Webster Groves suburb. And I live in Nebraska now and my Internet is excellent in the area around O’Neill. Provider is NNTC.
If you need a cell phone connection, just make sure that you test the living place first. There are some places that are complete dead zones, but other places that have better cell reception than most of the places I’ve ever lived before.
Anyways, my two cents.

Come to Arizona. One of the major bastions of American culture and Western heritage. Also very low cost of living compare to other states. Nine months of the year in Phoenix and Tucson are simply paradise. The folks here are good and decent and celebrate the holidays with gusto. Big problem is that the summers are everything you’ve heard but you can either leave the valley or keep inside the ac at museums and similar locations. Plus if the Mrs is still playful the prospect of staying in bed all weekend and @ is always something to look forward to and can make summer a heavily anticipated 9 weeks...
Better yet turn Chicago into a district and move congress there. ILLINOIS becomes RED.

I live in the Tri Cities (Richland, WA). We moved here from PA. Our property taxes in PA were 6000 for a 250K home. We bought a home here for the same 250K we sold our PA house for and pay 3000. We had a 4% ‘earned’ income tax in PA, which means, “How much did you earn? Give us 4%—no deductions’, so about 4000 per year in income taxes (at the time). No income tax in Washington. Our car insurance went down, even though we now have a two teen drivers, versus none in Pennsylvania. Our homeowners went to about 500 per year from over 1000. Our water was 80 per month, now it is less than 20. We have the cheapest electricity in 50 states here. We calculate our savings to be out 10000 per year, and that was 8 years ago. Given our higher income, and the fact that the kids are now drivers, we are probably saving much more, now. Sales tax is high, but like in PA where we could escape to Delaware to avoid sales taxes, we can go across the border to Oregon to get big ticket stuff.
