Allied Powers Knew About The Holocaust Two Years Before They Discovered Camps
The Forward ^ | Naomi Zeveloff | April 18, 2017

The Allied Powers knew about the Holocaust two and a half years before they intervened, newly accessed documents show, according to a report in the UK’s Independent newspaper.

The U.S., the UK and the Soviet governments had even prepared war crime charges against Adolf Hitler and head Nazis, aware that at least two million Jews had been killed and another five million were under threat, but in the end did little to stem the bloodletting.

“The major powers commented [on the Holocaust] two-and-a-half years before it is generally assumed,” Dan Plesch, the author of “Human Rights After Hitler,” told The Independent.

“It was assumed they learned this when they discovered the concentration camps, but they made this public comment in December 1942,” he said.

Plesch based his research on documents from the United Nations War Crimes Commission archive, which was closed to researchers for 70 years but was opened because of the work of former U.S. Ambassador to the UN Samantha Powers.

Plesch told the Independent that the archival material amounted to a “cartload of nails to hammer into the coffins” of Holocaust denial.

Doesn’t matter what they Allies did or didn’t do, it would never be enough for the folks who push this as “they didn’t do enough”... its never about reality its about how it can be spun... and that’s what this crap is used for.

Man can die saving 23 people and some idiot will shout why didn’t he save 24.... You just have to ignore these idiots... they aren’t serious people they are just idiots.

Well said, Gaffer. All my men relatives fought in that dreadful war and came home with scars to prove it. They did the best they could with what they had. It’s time people moved away from blaming America and pointing it squarely at the people who committed the atrocities. All the rest is just noise - and perhaps to fill the coffers of some liberal organization, lol.

Both the U.S, and Great Britain turned back ships filled with those whom Hitler chose to exterminate.

That this occurred will forever be to our shame!

They were already bombing the crap out of Germany day and night and had launched the Western offensive. To have launched earlier raised the specter of a failed landing and an extended war.

Could they have went public with the information? Sure but to who? What would the rest of the world say or do to cause Germany to stop? Nothing.

They could have bombed the railways or the camps themselves, sure it would have killed thousands of prisoners but it would have slowed them down only for a short while.

It was a crap sandwich and they chose the only viable option, win the war asap.

Actually the Brits basically ended their age of Empires when they signed the Atlantic Charter in 41 with the US.. FDR made sure that the recognition of self determination was part of the agreement, once this was signed, UK had no way it could hold onto its former colonies...

This act, requiring UK to recognize Self Determination of her subjects was the single biggest political act that ended the age of empires... it is given far less credit than it deserves.

No it didn’t happen overnight, but once they formally had agreed to it, there was nothing they could do to keep their empire in tact. The Age of Empires effectively ended the day Churchill signed the Atlantic Charter.

What the Allies should have done was to first invade Europe from the south, then storm through Italy, force them to surrender, and then invade northern Europe across the English Channel at great cost of lives. Then, they should have done all they could to push across Europe and eventually force Germany to surrender and capture all the Nazi leaders still alive and put many of them to death.

This is well known and has been for years. FDR got info not long after Hitler’s decision to eradicate all Jews. It went from speculation to near-certainty by the end of 1942.

Believe what you will. I know my parents and I know my father that served in God knows how many hellholes during WWII and what my mother sacrificed and scrimped for to support. They, and my other next generation contemporaries were better than just emotion. It was pure evil, but to blame the victors they didn’t get there soon enough or whatever is ludicrous.

What you see as a ‘propaganda factory’ I see as plain old patriotism for a good cause. They don’t need to be disparaged because they didn’t get there in time because somebody umpty decades later whines about.

Agreed. Sad to say using 20/20 hindsight and plugging freeing the camps as a battle priority into every WWII scenario I know I believe that the end results would have been about the same. I know there were anti Semites in the governments but ending the camps still depended on taking out the German defenses. I see that there was few ways to get to them any earlier than we did.

Millions of people died in WWII. America sacrificed hundreds of thousands. If that is not enough...screw’um.

There were limitations on what could be almost 75 years ago.

These same complainers won’t lift a finger to stop ISlam oppressing innocents in the present.

“Hasn’t this been known for DECADES?”

yes.

it’s fake news that this is new information.

and furthermore, what could the allies have done to stop the mass killing other than destroy those doing it (which they ultimately did? Bomb the trains carrying the victims or bomb the concentration camps? All that would do is make us complicit in the slaughter of innocents.

The world in general at the time was very anti-semitic. If Hitler had merely been killing Jews and hadn't invaded Poland triggering the mutual defense treaties, he would probably be considered the George Washington of modern Germany to this day.

Why is the only actual document supplied to support this new claim one dated December 1944?

My “academic fraud” antennae are on alert for this one.

I suppose we could have gone to war with Germany, bombed them into oblivion, liberated the camps, put an end to the Holocaust and effectively wiped Germany off the map at the cost of many thousands of lives.

I suppose we could have done that.

Looks like an article drummed up to try to get people to hate America. We defeated Germany as quickly as we could, plus there was always a “Germany first” policy even though it was the Japanese who attacked us at Pearl Harbor.

“Doesn’t matter what they Allies did or didn’t do, it would never be enough for the folks who push this as “they didn’t do enough””

Regarding Dresden here, there’s quite the faction that says “They did too much.”

we were fighting two wars....the Atlantic and the Pacific....we had our hands full, not to mention we had suffered a bombing as well on our own land....

besides the evil minds who orchestrated this, it also was the blame of the sheeple who carried out the genocide....and of course lets not forget the compliant Jews who went along with this and helped the Nazis in one way or another ....Soros....who is still allowed to live...

IIRC, that's pretty much what the Allies did. Once Rommel was defeated in North Africa, Patton and Montgomery drove into Sicily and into Italy. That was followed by the Normandy invasion, followed by ten months of horrific war across Western Europe into Germany.

Or, are you just trying to pull my leg? lol
