Congressman Barr faces angry crowd at event in Mount Sterling

MOUNT STERLING – U.S. Rep. Andy Barr faced an overwhelmingly hostile crowd in Mt. Sterling on Wednesday during his Coffee with a Congressman event.

A standing room only crowd of approximately 100 constituents, many from Lexington and Frankfort, were in attendance at the event often booing and shouting at the 6th district Congressman as he spoke about a number of issues and answered numerous questions.

The tone was set early on as Barr was thanking a few people at the start of the event when he was interrupted by Debbie Winslow, of Lexington, who was upset that Barr had not been in Lexington to talk to voters there.

“Sir, you’ve only given us an hour and we’ve got lots of questions for you,” Winslow said. “We haven’t been able to see you in town halls. You’re not coming to Lexington and Frankfort.”

Barr took the first question asking if he supports independent investigations into President Trump’s alleged connections with Russia.

“Of course we would want to have any independent investigation into any issue which would compromise national security,” Barr said. “Not a single intelligence official has provided evidence yet that there were any improper contacts between the Trump campaign and the intelligence community.”

The biggest issue with those in attendance was repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

As Barr explained his position, he was often shouted at by many in the crowd.

“Four point seven million Americans have lost their health insurance because of Obamacare,” Barr said. “Another fact, the Obamacare exchanges are collapsing right now. Seventy percent of the counties in the United States six years after Obamacare passed have two or fewer insurance choices.”

exactly a bunch of liberals who would never vote for a republican, and yet they are trying to tell us that they are voters who would have voted for that republican.

The media are such a joke. The left thinks the Tea party was so successful that they are trying to cope, but have no understanding as to how the Tea party was formed.

Fox News just did a big report about a Utah congress critter. Shouted down and crowd turned their back on him...spit on Fox for reporting these staged events as real.

We need Fox, James O’ Keefe, somebody of record to launch a drone prior to one of these Town hall events anywhere USA, locate the busses, and video the agitators getting off of those busses. That, or locate the busses, and at the end of the protest video them getting onto the busses.

I’d like to see somebody interview the bus drivers to find out who the bus company is, and pursue that avenue as well.

Main thing I want to see is some attempt to identify the fact to the public these agitators are in fact bussed in, and somebody is paying for those busses even if we can’t get the fact established the agitators are being paid.

Nobody seems to be doing such videos.

The underlying premise of this “fake news” meme is that a grass roots movement is afoot caused by the imminent repeal of Obamacare, which suddenly is what, popular?

So lemme see if I have this straight, Obamacare which lost the democrats the House, the Senate, the Presidency and a lion share of the State Houses and governorships is now popular?!? I looked at real clear politics tonight to see the approval rating for Obamacare:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/obama_and_democrats_health_care_plan-1130.html#polls

Well look here!!! Right on cue our buds in the fake media have cooked up some polls that miraculously turn a trend of disapproval around!!!! Eureka, it’s a miracle!!!

I hope our GOP reps and Senators realize what is going on here.

AstroTurf campaign by Leftists. The accompanying news articles read like boilerplate.

That’s the trouble in the internet age, you can’t so easily hide this sort of astroturfing. Lots of eyeballs are crosss checking stories.

Similar happened to Republican Senator Cotton in Springdale AR town hall.

This seems to be the modus operandi for the Obama brigade -- disrupt Republican congresspersons' events.

It is one of the reasons Trump is admired by many when he disparages The Press. They just aren't used to it. They have had things largely their way, done by their rules, since the Fifites.

All of sudden, out of the blue, there is a politician who simply states he isn't going to play by their rules anymore.

And he doesn't. My favorite line from his press conference last week: "...This morning, because many of our nation's reporters and folks will not tell you the truth, and will not treat the wonderful people of our country with the respect that they deserve. And I hope going forward we can be a little bit -- a little bit different, and maybe get along a little bit better, if that's possible. Maybe it's not, and that's OK, too..."

Unbelievable. A politician who does some important things he says he is going to do.

And as usual, so-called conservatives couldn’t get off their fat, useless asses and show up to support the man. I’m not surprised. They were probably busy worshiping mammon or barbecuing ribs. You dipwads deserve a jackboot in your faces - forever.

A standing room only crowd of approximately 100 constituents, many from Lexington and Frankfort.

As in "Herman Many of Lexington" and "Mary Many from Frankfort".

Why don’t these Reps issue tickets to verified constituents and restrict entry to only those with tickets? It’s not foolproof but it should put a serious crimp in the numbers of bused in ringers

“Why are the Republicans having town hall meetings this early. They really have not done anything. Are they looking for attention?”

My GOP rep stopped having them about four years ago because her Republican voter base was angry about the Boehner do nothing Congress and the GOPe support of amnesty. If she had one now she’d get an earful from conservatives about the lack of action on Obamacare and taxes. Likely she’d also get a good turnout of organized Democrats as well.

Yes. We need to re-invigorate the TEA party members to act as a counterweight to this astroturf. This kind of shallow protest can be shut off quickly if there’s any kind of push back.
