Congressman Barr faces angry crowd at event in Mount Sterling

MOUNT STERLING – U.S. Rep. Andy Barr faced an overwhelmingly hostile crowd in Mt. Sterling on Wednesday during his Coffee with a Congressman event.

A standing room only crowd of approximately 100 constituents, many from Lexington and Frankfort, were in attendance at the event often booing and shouting at the 6th district Congressman as he spoke about a number of issues and answered numerous questions.

The tone was set early on as Barr was thanking a few people at the start of the event when he was interrupted by Debbie Winslow, of Lexington, who was upset that Barr had not been in Lexington to talk to voters there.

“Sir, you’ve only given us an hour and we’ve got lots of questions for you,” Winslow said. “We haven’t been able to see you in town halls. You’re not coming to Lexington and Frankfort.”

Barr took the first question asking if he supports independent investigations into President Trump’s alleged connections with Russia.

“Of course we would want to have any independent investigation into any issue which would compromise national security,” Barr said. “Not a single intelligence official has provided evidence yet that there were any improper contacts between the Trump campaign and the intelligence community.”

The biggest issue with those in attendance was repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

As Barr explained his position, he was often shouted at by many in the crowd.

“Four point seven million Americans have lost their health insurance because of Obamacare,” Barr said. “Another fact, the Obamacare exchanges are collapsing right now. Seventy percent of the counties in the United States six years after Obamacare passed have two or fewer insurance choices.”

Virtually no one there was from Mount Sterling, which is Montgomery County, Kentucky where Barr got 71% of the vote and Trump got 69% of the vote. Yet it was made to look like a bastion of liberalism where the citizenry was up in arms about conservative policies. Quite a twist...normally those who put on events try to stage things - in this case the attendees were staged.

The left are so stupid LOL.

They are pretending to be grass roots , and yet they shout the lefts slogans like What does democracy look like, this is what democracy looks like. Then they have the same colored papers, the same signs etc LOL. They ask all the same liberal questions.
None of these people voted for any republican, and it is funny to watch them pretend they are grass roots, and the media to act as if this is the new Tea party.

The left is organized...And they are willing to pay protesters....

It's not new....

The thing is...the MSM won't report on it..because they are on the LEFT's side...

The lines are drawn..and have been drawn for many years..

It's just more obvious now....

Spot on - they really expect us to believe, that out of the blue, hundreds of people in Lexington and Frankfort got wind of a town hall event in the little town of Mount Sterling and decided to make long drive there spontaneously. It’s comical and embarrassing they would expect this to be seen as genuine...just like that “spontaneous” group of people who drove hundreds of miles, including from out of state, who just supposedly up and decided to protest McConnell speaking in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky a community that isn’t exactly a household name across the nation.

Lexington, and especially Frankfort, is not particularly close to the small town of Mount Sterling. Even if we believe they were all from there and not from out of state it is ridiculous to suggest this is genuine - hundreds of people don’t just decide to drive to some obscure meeting in a small town from those two cities spontaneously. It’s ridiculous.

And think of the carbon footprint they created by needlessly driving that far...

Sounds like the premise behind Benghazi...an obscure You Tube video with maybe 20 hits incited a crowd of hundreds to come out to the US Embassy with mortars and automatic weapons...

Well, our slow-witted Republican representatives better figure out a way to put a stop to this particular madness. Perhaps local Republicans should jam the meetings early displacing the Soros crowd. Perhaps, id’s can be asked for?

Why don’t they check ID to make sure these folks live in the Congressperson’s district? That way the real folks aren’t being pushed out by non-residents.

These “protests” were the lead story on ABC’s “World Fake News Tonight.”

I lasted 30 seconds before turning off the TV.

The lame stream media makes it look like these are angry citizens, pi$$ed of at Trump and the Republicans, when in reality it’s a bunch of paid George Sore-ass moonbats from outside the district(s).

Before ANYONE gets into ANY of these events you should have to present driver’s license and show you are in the district.

Why are the Republicans having town hall meetings this early. They really have not done anything. Are they looking for attention?
