Well, I thought she was smarter than that.

When I ran a speakers event at a private club, someone came to me with the idea of having Lucianne Goldberg speak. (This was about 1998-99.) I had my suspicions. Yep. It turned out the guy who wanted to invite her planned on sabotaging her speech along with a group of other malcontents. Never walk into the lion's den - even if invited.

Having been to a Friar’s Roast, I can tell you they are vicious. I’ll never forget what they did to Neil Simon and his wife - and they were in the audience!

I remember that Aretha Franklin gave one of the roasters the finger and they turned on her like a wolf pack. I was on Aretha’s side!

Right? Ann wears me out sometimes but she didn’t deserve that. That said, she’s a big girl. She can take it. I won’t lose any sleep worrying about her fragility. Snowflake she ain’t.

Comedy Central Roasts are mainly bad jokes involving sex with lots of swearing.
Not funny when compared with the old days when you had funny people who knew how to setup a joke and deliver a laugh.

Maybe Manning lives like a vampire. No mirrors in the house.

The old roasts -- I think Dean Martin had to do with a lot of them -- focused on the guest of honor.

Comedy Central's roasts do spill over into abuse of the attendees and celebrity roaster.

For one thing, they go on longer and the time has to be filled up somehow.

Somebody who's an easy punchline can expect a certain amount of flak from his or her peers.

Add politics and it could get a lot more abusive.

Then again, even in the old days, you could count on an awful lot of jokes about Dean’s drinking, whoever the “guest of honor” was supposed to be. It wasn’t as raunchy as the Comedy Central roasts are, though.

You can blame the fag writers.....they just spoon fed the participants their lines

Look who these writers are

It’ll be the usual grouping

Gay

Black

Hispanic

Pissed off women

Red diaper grandbabies

It’s the same folks who make most of what passes for news and entertainment

They pretend the are social justice warriors but really they are just angry they are short or fat or ugly or have weird surnames or momma named them after 1970s mouthwash

Today's "roasts" are nothing more than vicious, malicious filthy daggers thrown for monetary profit at other human beings by amoral leftists.

They are crammed down the public's throats via TV and sold as "entertainment".

As in today's pop music, weird and lewd art, etc. the acceptance bar for humor is now set so low by a large segment of our society that it's laying in a gutter full of toxic slime.

Even some posters here think that sewer humor is hilarious, filth is funny....and that Manning is one classy guy.

'I have no idea, but it probably has something to do with Comedy Central's corporate decision to move away from comedy — which is paying huge dividends with the Larry Wilmore and Trevor Noah shows,' Coulter said.

Perfect response. Comedy Central is just a vehicle for dispensing DNC talking points to Millenials.

None of their crap was remotely amusing, of course she did not laugh. They are among the worst “comedy” writers on planet earth. For their sins they should be turned over to ISIS.

What was Coultet thinking of going on the show? The format is she sits there and has to take it. Everybody in that room hates her. I love Rob Riggle though.
