Trump campaign manager: The polls are wrong because we have 'undercover Trump voters'
Business Insider ^ | Aug 24, 2016 | Oliver Darcy

Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway suggested her candidate was performing better than polls show because "undercover Trump voters" are afraid to publicly express their support for the Republican nominee.

"Donald Trump performs consistently better in online polling where a human being is not talking to another human being about what he or she may do in the election," she told the UK's Channel 4.

Conway added: "It's because it's become socially desirable, if you're a college-educated person in the United States of America, to say that you're against Donald Trump."

Because people cast their vote in private.

I’m one of those people. I move in social and work circles in which there is clear disdain for Trump. I keep quiet because I don’t want to get in peoples faces and argue.

But I am going to show up and vote.

I wonder how it is that people are not embarrassed to say they are voting for a Granny wearing draperies that were left-over in her dad’s drapery manufacturing warehouse because she is too cheap to let all that fabric go to waste? She barks, falls around, spins her head like auditioning for the Exorcist: Next Generation - and they proudly declare, “I’m with her”? I get embarrassed just SEEING “that woman, Hillary Rodham”.

I would like to see Mr. Trump start working this message into his rallies to help the people that are vulnerable to strong peer pressure.

I don’t do polls. I suspect a lot of others don’t either

I don’t even answer the phone when I see it’s a pollster.

They don’t need to know what I think.

Yes, I’m voting trump.

I am a Trump supporter. My family and close friends know that.
That information is not shared with strangers over the telephone (landline or cellphone) nor do I display bumperstickers / yard signs.
That would certainly make me an "undercover Trump voter" in the truest sense of the word.

Go Donald Trump 2016!

Do you honestly believe that your phone number isn’t cross referenced to a voting list? Puh-leeze!

I have no idea how voter registration works in the U.S. But I would assume that the polling company has to have some idea of your political affiliation in order to ensure they sample the proper demographics. But so what? Why is supporting Trump in a phone call so scary? Does she think that the polling company is writing down all the Trump supporters and will release the names? Or is she saying that some people who do support Trump are too embarrassed to admit it? And if that's what she is saying then how can she be so sure that they'll be motivated to vote for him if they're not motivated enough to tell a poll taker they support him?

What about the polls that are supposedly being messed with by adding Dems and less Repute?

Where and how much of that is falsifying results if at all?

You are seeing the anecdotal evidence here on this thread.

People simply choose not to share information with complete strangers.
Do you open your door when the front doorbell rings at 2:00 am on a random Wednesday morning?
People have the freedom to manage their opinions any way they see fit.
Just because some leftwinger wishes to be a frothing blabbermouth does not mean we have to, also.

Go Donald Trump 2016!

Also because they are pissed that people go after them for their non-socialist choices.

I’m one of those people. I move in social and work circles in which there is clear disdain for Trump. I keep quiet because I don’t want to get in peoples faces and argue.

And I understand that. Where I live my political beliefs are far more conservative than my neighbors so I don't go out and talk about it either, for the same reasons you gave.

But if I'm called by someone taking a political poll I don't mind answering honestly because it's entirely different circumstances. Nobody else knows, so nobody will try and make a major argument of it. I'll tell them I'm voting for the Conservative candidate even though I live among a sea of red and orange. I went and voted for the Conservative candidate even though I knew the Liberal was going to win. Why should Trump supporters be different?

There was a time when I proudly displayed bumper stickers, wore political clothing and had yard signs.

Unfortunately I’ve put all that on hold due to the nasty, nasty political divide that exists in this country. And isn’t that a shame?

Electing Trump will not make the divide disappear instantly, but I feel it will dry up eventually. If Killary gets elected, all bets are off.

There are times when I’m glad I’m old. I can remember this country as it was meant to be.

I’m an R, the wife is a D and the child is an L.

It all depends on who answers the phone - but it’s usually me.

Did get a poll call the other day and my answers were Trump and R’s all the way.

Conservatives often do not wish to be put into a database.
It is the same as when a doctor asks if you have firearms in the house.
Why get into a political discussion when one can simply answer, "No" to that question.
I prefer giving disinformation in that regard.

Thats not being a concern troll. Thats being leery because of intelligence guided by experience; this type of talk is usually used by campaigns that are behind.

Regardless, he made up lots of ground in a good month.
