Debunking the ‘Born This Way’ Myth
National Review ^ | August 23, 2016 | David French

Here is the world according to the LGBT Left: Just as there are black and white, there are gay and straight. One’s sexual orientation, like one’s race, is fixed and immutable at birth. The process of “questioning” one’s orientation isn’t a process of deciding but of discovering.

Similarly, when it comes to gender identity, there is “cis” and there is “trans.” A cis person’s gender identity matches the sex they were “assigned” at birth. A trans person — well, a trans person is any one of the fifty-plus other genders on the entirely reputable Facebook spectrum.

This, you see, is science. Anyone who contradicts it — whether relying on ancient, discredited “holy” texts or outdated notions of morality — isn’t just ignorant, but bigoted. And when it comes to bigots, why draw minute moral distinctions? Is there really much difference between a Klan member and a Christian conservative?

Such reasoning has been the source of much of the LGBT movement’s political force. It’s the narrative that dominates the academy, pop culture, progressive corporate America, and, lately, the Supreme Court. Justice Anthony Kennedy referred to the LGBT population’s “immutable” nature in his opinion constitutionalizing same-sex marriage. To those who live in the real world, this narrative has always run counter to observed reality. Human sexuality is not so neatly and cleanly divided and determined. Circumstances and culture matter, as does morality. So it should come as no surprise that — upon closer scientific examination — the LGBT Left’s case collapses. Sexual orientation and gender identity are nothing like race.

Yesterday, The New Atlantis released a comprehensive “study of studies,” taking a look at the accumulated body of credible scientific research on LGBT issues.

One of my kid’s classmates was gay - very effeminate and ‘out’ about his orientation - got a lot of attention.

A few years later, his younger brother enters high school...guess what...gay and effeminate and got a lot of attention.

I don’t necessarily think their upbringing made them both gay. In particular, I think the younger one was just tying to be like his older brother.

And I’m not even sure either one of them is actually gay. When I was in the army, people would jokingly say they were gay, and they were going to use that as a ploy to get out of the army. I would respond - Prove It! Nobody ever wanted to go that far. And frankly, I never saw either of these allegedly gay kids holding hands with a guy, kissing one, etc. Instead, their effeminate act got them a lot of attention from some of the girls.

Yeah, I learned in high school that there is a lot of difference between effeminate and homosexual.

Marshal Kirk and Hunter Madsen invented the whole “born that way” scheme and published it as part of a propaganda proposal essay titled “Overhauling Straight America”. They elaborated on it and even explained why they did it in 1989 when they wrote a book expanding their earlier essay, the book titled “After The Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Fear and Hatred of the Gays in the 90s”

http://www.victorjadamson.com/the-born-gay-hoax-exposed/

The relevant book excerpts:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The public should be persuaded that gays are victims of circumstance, that they no more chose their sexual orientation than they did, say, their height, skin color, talents, or limitations. (We argue that, for all practical purposes, gays should be considered to have been “born gay” — even though sexual orientation, for most humans, seems to be the product of a complex interaction between innate predispositions and environmental factors during childhood and early adolescence.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The money quote:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To suggest in public that homosexuality might be chosen is to open the can of worms labeled “moral choices and sin” and give the religious intransigents a stick to beat us with. Straights must be taught that it is as natural for some persons to be homosexual as it is for others to be heterosexual: wickedness and seduction have nothing to do with it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

They will “discover” that homosexuality is a choice as soon as it’s found to be congenital and a prenatal test is created for it.

When threatened with the sort of unborn genocide currently being performed on Down’s Syndrome fetuses, all the gays will go WHOA WHOA WHOA WE’RE NOT *REALLY* BORN THIS WAY!

Gender

A reflection of one’s self-image as relating to sexual nature. There are, in general, three genders:

1) Male
2) Female
3) Something you made up one day to feel speshul. E.g. “semiqueer-bi-spirit-shemale”. May use made-up pronouns such as “xe”, “ze”, “schlee”, “nflgsufgshuihousu”, etc. Anyone who finds this ridiculous is a bigot and is literally Hitler. — Urban Dictionary

Liberal “science”: Homosexuals are born that way, have no choice in the matter, and cannot change. Low IQs and violent behavior are the result of the environment and can be changed (with enough money funneled into government programs).

Homosexuals are already denying this truth. Dr McHugh was one of the researchers, which means they can deny it.

I believe too...that their are some women who so hate men, or the universe, they turn their boys into sissies...also, men who encourage their daughters to be lesbos for their own sick enjoyment.

That’s where 5 year old “gays” come from.

I believe some people are basically born queer and others have it thrust upon them. And the broad gray area in between.

“We’re queer; we’re here; our chants are in your ear!”

In a time of widespread mediocrity, when everyone is like everyone else, homosexuality gives many greatly insecure folks a much-needed feeling of uniqueness.

“wickedness and seduction have nothing to do with it.” Apparently, they were planning to rape young boys from the beginning.

Every homosexual I know personally - every single one - has some very bad juju in their childhood.

Ditto that. Many, many are children of divorce at the very least.

WTF is “cis?” Not that I really give a damn, but i would just like to not appear completely ignorant of this inane, value-less concept at some cocktail party.

Queers: "We are the 3.8%".     May 21, 2015

Follow that link to see how Gallup came up with 3.8%.

Talk about a tempest in a teapot. 3.8% of the population and they get national attention.

“Cis” means you are a man who knows he is a man or a woman who knows she is a woman. In other words, “cis” means normal.

Excellent article. Thanks for posting.

FReepers who haven't read the 1987 essay The Overhauling of Straight America should follow that thread and give it a read. Significant excerpt:

Fortunately, 29 years later we seem to be a long way from the desired "shrug of the shoulders."

“cis” is short for “cisgender.” A relatively new word, cisgender means the gender you were born with.

Which to me means the same thing as gender. But the word gender has, unfortunately, been twisted in today’s society.

Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cisgender

Excerpt:
Cisgender has its origin in the Latin-derived prefix cis-, meaning “on this side of”, which is an antonym for the Latin-derived prefix trans-, meaning “across from” or “on the other side of”.
