The presidential race has grown a bit tighter in this weeks White House Watch survey.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds Donald Trump with 42% of the vote, while Hillary Clinton earns 40%. Thirteen percent (13%) still like another candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
This survey was taken Tuesday evening following FBI Director James Comey's announcement that his agency would not seek any indictments of Clinton despite her "extremely careless" handling of classified information while serving as secretary of State. Most voters disagree with Comeys decision.
Trump pulled ahead of Clinton last week 43% to 39%, his highest level of support in Rasmussen Reports matchups with Clinton since last October. Support for Clinton remains below the level of support she received for most of June.
Rasmussen Reports will release new presidential race numbers with Libertarian Gary Johnson in the mix tomorrow morning at 8:30 Eastern.
Trump now earns 73% support among his fellow Republicans and picks up 13% of the Democratic vote. Seventy-nine percent (79%) of Democrats like Clinton, as do 11% of GOP voters. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, Trump holds a 20-point lead, but 33% of these voters like some other candidate or are undecided.

Trump isn’t toxic.
Those who “used to” vote republic who now say they “can’t” are directly helping HRC by their inaction.
Saddened but again I say perhaps this nation needs a revolution to get back on track.
The problem is we could end up like Russia.
I want him to run too....to the border, cross it and stay there.
His negatives are as high as Hillary’s.
Any one else wouldn’t stand a chance.
People are polarized about Trump just as they are about Hillary.
And there are people who can’t stand them.
One thing we know for sure about the upcoming GOP convention is there will be fewer politicians speaking than a typical one usually has. Good. It’ll convey that Trump isn’t part of the political establishment, and that his support comes from the working class and not the ruling class of this country.
A small flicker of hope. I’ll take it!
Trump has a lot of work to do if he wants to be President.
That work will begin in earnest with the convention and beyond.
Like what I’m seeing, but the polls starting after both Conventions are over and into Sept/Oct should be more on target.
Could be an electoral landslide for Trump if he takes NY and Penn.
Very true, but no one ever said it would be easy to defeat the Clintonistas and the rest of the Democratic Party. Cruz, Rubio, Walker, etc. would of all been toast by now. Trump was and is the only one of the 2016 GOP presidential field who can win.
I agree completely.
NOT because their act of voting for Hillary is a condemning offense, BUT BECAUSE it's indicative of the heart of the person. It shows a person whose world view is shaped by the world and not shaped by God and his scriptures.
“I dont see a landslide happening.”
If the GOP switches Trump for ?????, who will you vote for?
I sure as hell ain’t gonna vote for ????, and I suspect there are millions like me. THAT gives Clinton a landslide.
But that question will be answered in just a couple of weeks.
Wow!
By October, law abiding citizens will be scrambling trying to figure out how they are going to keep their firearms to protect themselves and their families. With POS POTUS Hillary ready to disarm them. Goodbye 2nd amendment. Disaster is headed our way. The fix was in long ago. Do you think for a minute the DEMs are going to let Hillary lose? They have started the cheating and fraud to win in November long before Trump even thought of running. Clinton is constantly smiling.
Why? Because she have been assured that she will be President.
Still within the Marge N. Overa, though........................
well said . . Trump is not too high on my godly scale, but at least ostensibly he is pro-life and has a basic respect for Christianity!
Polls are irrelevant because the dead don’t answer the phone. They have no problem voting for the democrat ticket, but phones are a challenge.
Exactly!!!
And Hillary has proven her hostility towards Christianity and what it represents and embraces everything satanic.
(and this isn't hyperbole)
