Orlando, Florida (CNN)Libertarians on Sunday selected a presidential ticket headed by former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, who lit into presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump on immigration and a range of other issues.
At the party convention in Orlando, Florida, Johnson got his preferred running mate, former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld, in a weekend gathering that drew sharp contrasts with the major party candidates -- Trump and Hillary Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee.
Johnson described the real estate mogul's immigration policies as "just racist," particularly the Republican's call to deport 11 million undocumented people currently in the country.
Libertarian activists contend their ticket could play a pivotal role in the 2016 campaign, with Trump and Clinton both viewed unfavorably by large swaths of the electorate. Even grabbing a small percentage of the vote in key states could affect the Electoral College calculus.

Bingo! I can't believe that the LPUSA, which should be based in classical liberalism and the Constitution, has nominated an "open borders" candidate who immediately played the PC race card in an effort to smear Donald Trump.
By fielding a candidate who immediately act like such a typical PC Establishment politician, the LPUSA is going to severely damage itself in the eyes of many "small 'l' libertarians", small-government conservatives, and "classical liberals" who believe in Constitutional Liberty, not to mention legitimate (non-arbitrary) Law & Order.
As someone above said, the LPUSA is irrelevant.

Libertarianism doesn’t fly all that well in a leechy society. If those folks think they really can stop the illegale leeching... then let’s hear their plan out. Short of that, it seems ludicrous based on history.

Agreed, but my deeper point is that Gary Johnson's damn lies about Trump come straight out of far Left PC hysteria tactics. They have no validity in the context of engaging in legitimate political discussion.
Thus, Johnson's shameful and despicable attack was about the most un-libertarian thing someone could say, given the fact that it's utterly false in point of both fact and philosophy...

My guess is that Johnson will do about as well as in 2012...there is a danger that he could tip a close state into the Democrat column. So let’s hope a group of disgruntled Bernie supporters mount their own third-party candidacy and take a larger number of votes away from the Hildabeast.

Johnson received the most votes at the convention and became the official 2012 Libertarian presidential nominee. On November 6, 2012, Johnson received just under 1% of the popular vote in the general election, amounting to more than 1.2 million votes>>>> lots of votes. romney lost by 6M but i expect the L gets less this year as security will become a big issue. riots ususally spell trouble for third part.

Of course they will say they are for eliminating all welfare programs, but the reality is that the amnesty would happen immediately, and eliminating welfare never would.
