Two former liberal governors. They are closer to being democRATS than they are to being GOP or LPUSA.

Well time to ring the curtain down on this.
Principled conservatism is 2500 year old wisdom spawned by the wise men of Ancient Greece; among them Pericles, Solon, Aristotle; among many others.
Some 1500 years later, the Scholastics, among them Magnus and Ockham, expanded and reinvigorated that wisdom. Case in point is the latter’s Principle of Subsidiarity which is the bedrock for the notion that States Rights supersedes centralized government
These giants of the past set the stage for the wise English Whigs, among them Hume and Locke.
Then along came Libertarianism, a relatively modernist fad, which, at its core, exalts freedom above all. While surely worthwhile, I reject it as a governing philosophy.
We have lost our way not because we lack freedom but because we no longer accept and live by the reality:
* that Man is governed by an enduring moral order grounded by the Natural Law.
* that the linchpin of culture/society is the Family Unit.
* that we are insignificant dwarfs standing on the massive shoulders of the giants of antiquity who created Western Civilization.

Libertarians fight on the Communist side during the Spanish civil war and have long been associated with socialists and other degenerate leftists. How they came to be associated with Conservatives and the right is a mystery.

Fascinating history, but I still think you’re in the wrong about American Libertarianism: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarianism_in_the_United_States

Likewise, Natural Law has been firmly embedded in the ideological tradition of US Libertarianism, as Rothbard explains:

“From the Lockean emphasis on the individual as the unit of action, as the entity who thinks, feels, chooses, and acts, stemmed his conception of natural law in politics as establishing the natural rights of each individual. It was the Lockean individualist tradition that profoundly influenced the later American revolutionaries and the dominant tradition of libertarian political thought in the revolutionary new nation.”

Now I don’t deny that much of contemporary ‘libertarianism’ has lost its way, largely comprising empty mantras about weed & open borders with no coherent basis in ideological principle—e.g. the kind of tripe Reason Magazine pumps out on a regular basis. Much of that is of course little more than rehashed Leftism, and gets falsely conflated with the original Libertarian brand.

‘Libertarian’ often has a different meaning outside the US, usually having to do with ‘libertarian socialism’.

Johnson described the real estate mogul's immigration policies as "just racist," particularly the Republican's call to deport 11 million undocumented people currently in the country.
IOW, he's just another Democrat in all but name.

You are wasting your time, as a practical matter.

However, as a principled matter, you are not. I applaud your gallant effort.

Well done.

They didn’t used to be this way. Like everything else the most radical take the positions of power. It’s true of all of the parties. GOP included. GOPe radicals are more dangerous than libertarians.

Weld was on the same NAU commission with Heidi Cruz and Condi Rice! We The People happen to love our USA! Weld wants to erase our borders.

Thank you for your gracious comment.
As I often assert, my template is the past and the future; since, for me, the present is another dark and low era, as Auden described England after the Great War.
Reflect for a moment. Since History is no longer taught, we have lost our sense of time and place. Further we have become border line illiterate in Science, allowing the environment Druids to fill the minds of the young w/their destructive propaganda.
But every action and cause has a reaction and an effect. Most certainly, a price is yet to be paid for our hubris and obtuseness. But many insist that the solution will emerge from politics. Hm....... Lord have mercy!

Trump slams ‘spoiler’ bid after Kristol says independent candidate to run
Published May 30, 2016 FoxNews.com

Donald Trump took to Twitter Sunday night to slam fresh predictions from Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol that an independent candidate would soon be entering the race for president, warning that a 2016 “spoiler” could swing the race to the Democrats.

Kristol, along with other conservative pundits, long has been working to attract an independent candidate to run in November amid lingering concerns in some wings of the Republican Party about Trump’s conservative credentials. This effort to date has struggled to recruit a willing candidate, while running into logistical hurdles — including the rules and deadlines for getting new names on the ballot.

Yet on Sunday, Kristol teased a forthcoming announcement, saying on Twitter:
