I admit I know not much about London politics or political figures but I think this guy sees exactly what is going on in Europe. Best advice I can give the Brits: flood the chunnel.

So, Napoleon is respectable but Hitler is not?

The citing of these two precedents places the EU in a different light. The means become suspect, clouding the ends.

It would seem the current culprit is a consensus of Social Democrats
rather than the undefined mass mind described by Tolstoy in War and Peace.

The concept is interesting and should not be rejected out of hand

In other words he is saying that the EU is acting like Barack Obama.

Heavy handed and tyrannical.

Very good assessment of the EU.

I said several years past that Hitler’s mistake was using tanks instead of banks to conquer Europe.

I’d be more inclined to say Stalin (or Mao) than Hitler.

So, it’s ok for Boris to ‘build a wall’ against Europe but not ok for The Donald.

It was in fact the plan of Hitler’s economic advisors to unite Europe under a common currency and common market, under the aegis of Germany, of course. So Boris is just reminding the UK of that.

He’s right. Its really a push towards the very old lord/serf feudal model and its being accomplished on two fronts one economically through the consolidation of wealth upward and the other through consolidation of power in federal bureaucracies. The result is the same as if the world was invaded by Germany and subdued the only difference with bodies like the EU and the UN the subduing occurred without a shot. We have the same problem here in the US with the federal power far exceeding its constitutional limits whereas the key problem that Europe has is that in many cases it didn’t have any real limits at all to the reach of EU power. so the bureaucrats in Brussels don’t even have to pretend to conform to a dead constitution as ours do. They of course are pretending less and less.

We have seen now the result of federal central governments in that they are doomed to regress to the feudal model. You can not have liberty married to socialism and not end up with a dependent doe eye sheepdom.

Yes, the EU was founded in order to become a country. They were imitating the USA, in which several states united under a federal government, starting off as a loose federation which helped their common interests, and rapidly becoming an all-encompassing overwhelming central power that suppressed the identities of the states.
The EU is trying to suppress the identities of the various countries, and to create an all-powerful central government that suppresses the individual countries. It is well on the way to having achieved that, but now some countries are protesting, since their national identities are being erased.
They still have a chance. They can still get out of the EU and go back to being sovereign countries. They had better do it fast, before the jihadis multiply and take over, establishing a dictatorial theocracy.

The Russians will preemptively nuke it before it gets too powerful. No one will complain much.
