Cruz: Those who bolstered Trump 'will bear that responsibility going forward'
The Hill ^ | ay 12, 2016, 09:45 pm | By Jesse Byrnes

Ted Cruz said Thursday that those who contributed to the rise of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will have to "bear that responsibility going forward."

Cruz appeared Thursday evening on the Houston-based "Michael Berry Show" and was asked whether he thought he was treated fairly in the GOP primary, with the host mentioning Fox News.

"Well listen, there's time for recriminations and you know, everyone who was responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, they will bear that responsibility going forward," Cruz responded.

"But there were more than a few players that played a disproportionate role in that rise," he added. "I'm going to focus, instead of looking backwards, I'm going to focus on looking forwards."

Cruz returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for the first time since dropping out of the GOP race but declined to endorse Trump, who is working to shore up support from establishment Republicans.

"I think we left it all on the field," Cruz said Thursday. "My one regret is that we came up short."

Cruz said he'll address the Texas GOP convention Saturday afternoon.

"The biggest message I'm going to say is simply 'thank you,'" Cruz said.

He'll rally Republicans with a message that "although the results may not have been as we wanted, that together we started a movement and this movement will continue."

Cruz said he wasn't sure if he'd address the national GOP convention in Cleveland in July, but he indicated he planned to attend out of an obligation to the some 600 delegates he won during the primary.

"I don't know if I'll have a role at the convention or not, but I'll certainly be there cheering on the delegates," he said.

I doubt Trump’s support on FR hit anything close to 87%. It sure hasn’t with the rest of the GOP. But WHY do Trump supporters continue to attack anyone who doesn’t give a Lewinsky to Trump? Just how do you expect to win - with democrats alone?

Why viciously attack people who ought to support the nominee, but who CAN be driven away if they are crapped on long enough? I’m trying to get people I know to vote this November, but a lot plan to sit it out - so why not focus on HILLARY and STOP attacking Cruz?

Why does Trump and his supporters have to capitulate to Cruz and his supporters when they clearly lost? It's turning out to not even being close and Trump is on track to set a primary record in votes.

I just don't understand why Cruz and some of his supporters are acting like big baby losers when clearly the American people didn't want what Cruz was selling. Personally I used to like Cruz but now I'm at the point I can't stand the man.

The focus is bigger than your bruised egos and that is getting this country back on track and defeating the commie Hillary. Cruz only makes things worse by saying stupid things like this in the article.

See, because Cruz is a liar, he can’t truthfully be said to “stand for” anything—not even the things he claims to stand for.

Funny, because Cruz helped Trump by
losing to him. He hooked his wagon to Beck and Carly and then drove over a cliff running for some office or another ....I think he called it “not Trump”.... yeah, that was it...He should have run for president, if that was what he wanted.
Brilliant Tad!!!

Bolstering my theory: Asperger’s.

Cruz has NO CLUE what is going on in the minds of normal people. He had NO CLUE how normal people would react to his accusation that Trump caused the violence in Chicago. And THEN Cruz modified that accusation to: Trump is calling for violence at ALL his rallies.

There’s not even any evidence that he’s naturalized. No thingamajig from the American consulate or embassy. There’s no evidence he’s a citizen at all. If his American mother became Canadian before his birth, he’s an illegal alien. He’s not even a Senator.

I guess the “anointing” is supposed to straighten all that out.

I thought FR was supposed to have become a “NeverHillary” zone, and I’ve been “NeverHIllary” for years. But it seems many here hate Ted Cruz more than Hillary, and would rather vent their hatred on Ted Cruz than try to unify the “Stop Hillary” vote. That is a shame.

What you fail to see is Ted Cruz deserves every bit of scorn he gets for how his campaign played out. That's fine if you want to bury your head in the sand towards it but most Freepers saw through the fraud.

It’s one of Trump’s coats. Seriously. The photo was taken in Trump’s New York office, and Cruz didn’t have a coat with him.

We will have to vote for Trump despite his supporters.
You know it’s your patriotic duty. I was holding out hope for a possible Cruz spot at VP but, this ain’t gonna fly for Trump.
Trumps response to this should be interesting.

Reminds me of the Catholic blogger who said Trump was an adulterer, a serial divorcee, and a man who had dedicated his life to greed, and had no history of any kind of public service.

There’s a whole flock of these Catholic and Protestant Trump-slanderers. Of course, Steve Deace is their KING. They have spewed vile lies and insults at Trump for almost a year.

And they are ALL for any candidate who can bang a Bible. As long as he does that, they are blind and deaf. The most pathetic sheep.

He’s 45. Odds are Trump will be dust and he will still be on the political scene. He and Rubio and Ryan and a lot of guys.

Odds were that last Spring, no one expected him to come this close. Not a bad run for a freshman senator. Walker, Paul and Rubio were considered much more likely.

Rush has been unlistenable for years. No comedy. Not even any wit. The voice is gone. It used to be round and mellow, like a 1940’s announcer. It was music. Now, it’s harsh and grating, and he’s developed some bad habits, like these long, growly “uuhhhs.” Hideous to listen to.

And Rush has been part of the decade-long conspiracy of silence about Soetoro’s illegal-alien status.

Gee, you act as though he should just waltz right along with someone who accused his father of being involved in the Kennedy assassination. Normal people aren’t able to just do that on a whim.

Cruz’s father, a Cruz campaign surrogate, was busy telling everybody who would listen that “Trump is evil”. But you are too deluded and infatuated with Ted Cruz to notice that the primary was a two way battle. “Normal people” do not fight a spirited campaign and then have calculated tantrums when they lose. Ted Cruz has made his bed. Now he must lay in it.

LOL. I guess you haven’t noticed. Trump is ignoring Cruz’s calculated tantrums. This is the 3rd one in a week and half. The pattern to change. Trump isn’t interest in refighting the primary. Only Loser Cruzers want to do that.
