Cruz: Those who bolstered Trump 'will bear that responsibility going forward'
The Hill ^ | ay 12, 2016, 09:45 pm | By Jesse Byrnes

Ted Cruz said Thursday that those who contributed to the rise of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will have to "bear that responsibility going forward."

Cruz appeared Thursday evening on the Houston-based "Michael Berry Show" and was asked whether he thought he was treated fairly in the GOP primary, with the host mentioning Fox News.

"Well listen, there's time for recriminations and you know, everyone who was responsible for the rise of Donald Trump, they will bear that responsibility going forward," Cruz responded.

"But there were more than a few players that played a disproportionate role in that rise," he added. "I'm going to focus, instead of looking backwards, I'm going to focus on looking forwards."

Cruz returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday for the first time since dropping out of the GOP race but declined to endorse Trump, who is working to shore up support from establishment Republicans.

"I think we left it all on the field," Cruz said Thursday. "My one regret is that we came up short."

Cruz said he'll address the Texas GOP convention Saturday afternoon.

"The biggest message I'm going to say is simply 'thank you,'" Cruz said.

He'll rally Republicans with a message that "although the results may not have been as we wanted, that together we started a movement and this movement will continue."

Cruz said he wasn't sure if he'd address the national GOP convention in Cleveland in July, but he indicated he planned to attend out of an obligation to the some 600 delegates he won during the primary.

"I don't know if I'll have a role at the convention or not, but I'll certainly be there cheering on the delegates," he said.

I doubt Trump’s support on FR hit anything close to 87%. It sure hasn’t with the rest of the GOP. But WHY do Trump supporters continue to attack anyone who doesn’t give a Lewinsky to Trump? Just how do you expect to win - with democrats alone?

Why viciously attack people who ought to support the nominee, but who CAN be driven away if they are crapped on long enough? I’m trying to get people I know to vote this November, but a lot plan to sit it out - so why not focus on HILLARY and STOP attacking Cruz?

I'd bet Cruz is going to be wrong about that too. But a very revealing comment from this guy.

Cruz like the Bush's. They all have no idea who is responsible for what nor do they care about anything other than getting elected. Zip.

“Seems FreeRepublic is more anti-Cruz than anti-Hillary. Pity.”

The pity is that Ted Cruz turned out to be nothing but a typical greedy politician. If you have his latest email looking for money you would understand. The Cruz’s are the modern day Jim and Tammy Baker; just a couple of grifters.

Good question. Here is to hoping that Scalia's replacement is a Good one. I still like Judge Judy. ☺

Ted Cruz is a sore loser. He was his own worst enemy with all his sleaze and dirty dealings. HE has to live with that, knowing that he was pretty hypocritical for a ‘Bible-believing Christian’.

Ted must be talking about Jebbie, Boehner, McC (KY and AZ), Romney, Ryan, Christine Todd Whitman, who else?

Like Kirstie Alley, Norman Lear, Edward Asner, Roseanne Barr, Halle Berry...

That's disingenuous. Trump's on the Walk of Fame not because he's a leftist air-headed Hollywood actor, it's because he's an innovative businessman who managed to parlay that into success into television and entertainment.

Remember prior to c. Jan. 1, Cruz kept saying how great it was that Trump was running for president as a Republican and how the party needed to listen to him. Then Trump turned on Cruz, and Cruz was never again the same. He must have never expected the break to wound him so badly.

No he doesn’t. Without Trump Ted would still openly be supporting open borders and TPP. Ted did not switch positions until Trump was gaining traction

Ted is the only who should be ashamed. Blaming others for his failings

Absolutely correct. Yet look at the Cruz cultists in this thread singing his praises. I guess loving eyes can never see.

Judge Judy is past 70, and she was a BHO booster in 2008 but not in 2012.

But WHY do Trump supporters continue to attack anyone who doesn’t give a Lewinsky to Trump?

Did a Freeper write this article? Did Cruz not point the finger at tens of millions of Americans telling them they'll all be responsible for the rise of Trump? What a jackball Cruz is. Is everyone supposed to just ignore what this guy says when he continues to make comments to the MSM? Get real. Not going to happen.

“I doubt Trump’s support on FR hit anything close to 87%.”

Oh, but it did. Freeper DoughtyOne ran the daily FR Caucus, which measured Freeper voting preferences, for 100 days, during the early months of this year. The tabulated totals clearly showed an overwhelming preference for Donald Trump over the course of that exercise.

Check with Doughty if you’re skeptical. He documented it all.

Yea, Reagan released his little 76-ers to Ford and Dole but brought them back together in 1980. Cruz must not think he can do that in 2020, and he must be certain Mrs. Bill will win the electoral votes on Nov. 8.
