How Ryan decided to ditch Trump
Politico ^ | May 5, 2016 | Jake Sherman

Posted on 05/06/2016 1:18:29 AM PDT by reaganaut1

On Wednesday morning, not even 24 hours after Donald Trump effectively clinched the Republican nomination, Paul Ryan convened his top advisers for a call. With Congress out of session, Ryan was bouncing between multiple states, raising the piles of money needed to keep House Republicans in the majority.

But Donald Trump was on his mind. The speaker could not — at least at this point — support him. And he wanted to talk through how to proceed.

Ryan never expected Trump to lock up the nomination so quickly. He didn't think Texas Sen. Ted Cruz would drop out of the race in May. In fact, Ryan's orbit was preparing for a contested convention in Cleveland, where he is slated to serve as chairman, effectively the emcee of the Trump coronation.

The decision was made quickly. The next day, he would go on CNN and make it official, in no uncertain terms.

“I think what a lot of Republicans want to see is that we have a standard-bearer that bears our standards,” he told Jake Tapper in the bombshell interview that was taped shortly before it aired on Thursday afternoon.

“I think conservatives want to know, does he share our values and our principles on limited government, the proper role of the executive, adherence to the Constitution?” Ryan added. “There are lots of questions that conservatives, I think, are gonna want answers to, myself included. I want to be a part of this unifying process. I want to help to unify this party.”

Apparently Paul Ryan thinks republican standards are to give Obama everything he wants.

I think we know the problem.

I am no longer a republican.

"The nominee has been chosen by the people."

Not so! The people are choosing delegates, and that process is not over yet.

“”I think conservatives want to know, does he share our values and our principles...””

I guess that “our values and our principles” include giving Obama everything he wanted AND MORE in an omnibus spending bill, just weeks after promising up, down and sideways that he’d never allow such a thing again if elected to be Speaker.

Time to GTFO, Ryan.

If Ryan wants to “unify” the party on his terms, he will unify it without me or millions like me who used to vote straight party ticket Republican but who won’t be fooled again.

Ryan needs to go to the ash heap of history, with the Bushes, McConnell and the Clintons.

Did I miss where Ryan adhered to the Constitution since his emasculation, let alone the Party...I mean his altruistic ascension to the Speaker-ship *sorry, I couldn’t keep a straight face with that last part*

If Ryan thinks he can take on Trump and emerge the winner, he’ll want to re-assess that.

No doubt.

I think that I’ve bitched more about Ryan than even Obama. It’s like being a woman in the military, on the front lines - you expect to be raped if captured by the enemy - you don’t expect to be raped by the guy in the fox hole next to you.

Here’s the FEC link - IT IS REAL!

IF, as many of us strongly suspect, Ryan expects to be crowned at the convention after they suddenly change the rules and make the convention wide open, he won’t care about losing his seat in Congress.

The best thing we can do now is make sure that we WILL NOT ACCEPT crowning a scummy little king-boy. If they think that we’ll turn out for Lyin’ Ryan, they’ll be surprised with how many millions of people let him twist in the wind as the world’s biggest loser! (Hint: Romney times 10.)

Letting the nomination be awarded to the loser Ryan will not be a “twist in the wind” moment — unless one counts the Tyburn Tree displays around the country, holding the last earthly remains of the ‘string pullers’. It would be an act of war.

I’m going to keep those postcards flowing... to Paul Ryan (and to my local reps and senators)... Every Monday until Ryan and all the others are “ready” to support Trump, or until Ryan makes it clear that he’s flipping the bird to We, The People, and he plans to support Hillary.

It’s not over until Trump is actually the Republican nominee, not just the “presumptive” nominee. Everyone stay focused, and keep voting Trump in the remaining primaries. Keep focused until February 2017.

Postcards to:

Spkr. Paul Ryan
1233 Longworth HOB
Washington, DC 20515

This is what I’m writing on my postcards:

Support Trump2016
- or we vote DEM down-ballot in November!
#MAGA

Romney & Ryan filed papers with the FEC on Jan 31, 2016 to run for President & Vice President of the USA.

Sorry, pal, neither Mitt nor Paul have filed on, before, or since the date you mention to announce candidacy. If you would like to verify that they are NOT on the list, go to the government's (FEC) list of presidential applicants here and do a search:

Where did you get this garbage, or did you make it up yourself?

Paul Ryan, the man who personally wrote the language into the 2013 budget agreement to cut the pensions of military veterans, including combat disabled veterans who were missing limbs. He is not worthy to be in office.
