Is Free Republic worth Saving? My Opus Part II
Free Republic ^ | August 30, 2013 | The Bat Ladys Husband

My involvement with Free Republic began around 2000 when my wife began her vigil around the Texas governor’s mansion in support of GW against the challenge of Al Gore for the presidency. I generally provided the livelihood for the Bat Lady to be able to protest and surround the mansion against the leftists who were kept at bay across the street. While she was registered in order to post after action reports I was a lurker

Man, you guys are borderline pathetic. Like Cruz himself, you want to focus on US, and point out OUR failings for not seeing the world exactly as you do.

I'll speak for myself. I started the election cycle all in for Cruz. My wife was for Trump from day one, and I frequently accused her of simply wanting the celebrity candidate. It helps that I had learned to cook for myself over the past few years.

We would watch the debates together, start arguing, and then watch them on two different TV's, separated by a wall. Then one night, during the fifth or sixth debate, I began to notice that Cruz ALWAYS sounded like a lawyer. No matter how simple the question, the theatrics were always the same. I didn't let on to my wife that I was feeling this angst, but I found it growing, nevertheless.

Then came the rally in Chicago on a Friday night. I was very upset, not because of Trump, but because this looked a lot like Baltimore and Ferguson, where rioting had occurred months earlier. Again, it wasn't political, it was anger at all of these anti-police, anti-American demonstrations turned violent.

It wasn't unitl hour two or so, when Ted Cruz was interviewed and IMMEDIATELY called this Donald Trump's fault. I literally screamed at the TV, at MY candidate to STFU!! From that point on, I turned off to Cruz. It wasn't that I immediately embraced Trump, though I did feel he had been greatly wronged that night in Chicago. For the record, you can go back to the early Free Republic nightly caucus posts and see my oft repeated: Vote Cruz.

As I thought it through, I came to realize that if Cruz won't defend Donald Trump's 1st Amendment rights (they are still both Republicans, right?), then what made me think he would defend MY rights.

Took a week or so, but I started listening to Trump more closely. It was a humbling experience when I went, hat in hand, to Mrs. Citizen Soldier, and told her she was right. The funny thing was, it didn't take long until I was the louder voice for Trump, sometimes even embarassing her with my enthusiasm.

Now, months later, I am ALL IN for Trump! His message, especially as it relates to veterans, is spot on. That I myself am a Vietnam vet, surely contributes to that enthusiasm. It is one of the great travesties in our nation; the treatment of vets, or lack thereof. Trump, I am convinced, will give veterans the attention and honor they deserve!

So, sorry that you still cling to the Cruz campaign that is vaporizing before our eyes. You could sit back, see what develops, and then find your positive voice for change, but sounds like you have ruled that out in favor of pouting, and taking your ball, and going home. Well here, let me help you.

A Zot is an action that happens when you support someone other than trump

A zot is what happens when you aid and abet the enemy, by refusing to unite behind the party's presumptive nominee, instead parroting the hateful propaganda that is worthy only of the Hillary, GOPe, and Cruz camps.

You really have to try in order to get zotted from this forum.

Continuing the slanderous and hate-filled attacks against the presumptive nominee is only helping the Hillary campaign.

Helping the Hillary campaign is grounds for zotting.

Ted Cruz has lost. Deal with it. Parroting his lies (that's what they are) is only helping Hillary.

I never would have believed that Ted Cruz, the candidate who I initially preferred, would turn out to be a typical slimy politician who thinks he can only get ahead by spreading outright lies and parroting GOPe propaganda.

But that's exactly what Ted Cruz has done. He has shown naked opportunism, a total lack of principles, and a willingness to adopt the same Machiavellian tactics that his GOPe benefactors embrace.

If you're still a supporter of Cruz, fine.

But don't expect the site's owner to indulge your blind hatred of Donald Trump, because when you do, you're only working for the Enemy at this point.

That's the stage we have reached, and your refusal to accept that doesn't change reality.

Almost this entire community supported Ted Cruz at one point. Now, almost this entire community believes that Cruz is a lying sack of s--t who has betrayed the grassroots.

That debate is over, and it's time for those who lost the debate to accept the reality of the situation.

And the reality of the situation is that undermining the presumptive nominee is totally counterproductive. Thus, the site owner reserves the right to squelch such nonsense.

Why? I assume the reason is because he believes it's critically important to support the presumptive nominee, instead of constantly tearing the man down, as some on this forum can't stop themselves from doing.

I think Jim Robinson has it about right, and I'm sure many of the out-of-control Cruz fanboys, who can't accept the fact that their candidate has lost, will be welcomed back, once they have regained their senses.

We're all in with Donald Trump, understand?

That's the point we have reached. If you're not there yet, you should probably take some time off to do some thinking, instead of just attack, attack, attack the presumptive nominee.

Vote Trump

Well, bye....management has been very fair at FR. The owner has put up with a lot of nonsense out here. He’s tried to keep the peace between the Trump/Cruz people as best he could. Really don’t get your beef. Cruz is done. What are we supposed to do, sit here & complain about it ?

-”And just that quickly my hubby HAS been banned.”

Well, he got exactly what he asked for.

-”What brought this about was that I was invited to another site of former freepers who have gotten tired of the constant bashing if they support another candidate than Trump.”

I know some of those former Freepers. I once considered some of them as (cyber) friends and I even miss ‘some’ of them. However, the “constant bashing” went both directions. Once I changed from supporting Cruz to supporting Trump, it was quite easy to see the desperation and attacks being exhibited by the Cruz people. I am a proud Trump supporter and he will be a far better president than Lyin’ Ted could ever be.

-”And in my defense of my candidate and against Trump........”

There is no defense. Lyin’ Ted made sure of that.

Look at the bright side. Now that your husband if off of FR, perhaps he can get some of those things you have always wanted him to do around the house. Oh, and after tomorrow nights election returns, you will both have more time to spend on things far more meaningful than supporting that loser, Lyin Ted.

Please, have a wonderful day.....

On the main points Trump is 100% conservative and has a history of doing, building and paying lots of payroll checks.

Trump 100% conservative? That's certainly a bit of a stretch. Here's a 70 year old man who has, up until a little more than a year ago, been a 'Rat. He's given large contributions to the likes of HRC, Pelosi, Reid, and Schumer. He's had The Witch as his wedding guest. He can't get his numbers and facts straight, has little knowledge of the principles of American government, and is now merely a Republican of convenience. Not even a RINO, but a ROC. I'll give him credit for being a conservative on one important issue, immigration, but he's a guy who thinks that transgendered men should be allowed in public women's rest rooms. How sick is that! Trump does have a history of "doing, building and paying lots of payroll checks," but a lot of that was accomplished by corruption: payoffs to Democrat politicians; it's called crony capitalism. Oh, and yes, he did some of his building with illegal immigrant labor, which is still essential to his company. And his bullying, boastful petulant, and impulsive behavior is, to put it politely, very much upresidential.

I was a supporter of Cruz, but his behavior this election is most disappointing.

Please tell me what it is about Cruz's behavior that is "most disappointing"? It's obvious that Cruz has a much broader range of issues on which he is conservative than Trump. He's been a conservative Republican his entire adult life.

PJ, I just checked the donor rollcall, still nobody with "Trump" or its variants listed. I'm sure there are a few who donated anonymously, as I did for the past 17 years prior to this freepathon.

I never thought it a big deal (donating anonymously), I just find it ironic that there are Trumpeteers who call me a traitor (for not genuflecting before Trump) have yet to donate a dime to FreeRepublic. I guess they figure if they suck up to JimRob, a man I admire and respect, that's enough.

Bob left out the part about when you cross the line and you disrespect the forum and other posters....that is when you’re shown the door.

And, that applies regardless who you support.

Funny how when that same group of jokers were bashing everyone that supported Trump before the primaries started, Trump supporters didnt go running off crying to some wannabe FR clone.

Yes Bat Lady, and what about that group of Cruzbots who went to the management and asked him to ban the live Trump rallies?

There is nothing wrong with donating anonymously, as that is likely what has occurred. And no one is asking you to genuflect to Trump. Your insinuation that Trump supporters worship Trump is ridiculous.

We will see. If Trump is the nominee, then I would vote for him over Hillary. If he becomes POTUS and fails to get anything done, then the “TRUMP CHUMPS” slogan will be all over the internet.

[[instead parroting the hateful propaganda that is worthy only of the Hillary, GOPe, and Cruz camps.]]

Ah yuou again- you conveniently ignore the hateful proganda spouted by trump supporters- but villify others for it?

[[A zot is what happens when you aid and abet the enemy, by refusing to unite behind the party’s presumptive nominee,]]

Lol- when did believing another candidate is more conservative than another become ‘aid and abett? Your rally good at comedy- you know that?

[[You really have to try in order to get zotted from this forum.]]

as I told the other person in this thread the info is freely available to ll that shows that yeah, sometimes you don’t- and then the excuse comes out that they got zotted because they ‘aid and abet the enemy’

[[Continuing the slanderous and hate-filled attacks against the presumptive nominee is only helping the Hillary campaign.]]

But of course in your mind it’s a-ok to intimidate those who don’t support trump in the primaries, to bully them to shout them down, to ‘slander’ them and that’s not ‘driving people from supporting trump come the general election IF he becomes the nominee’ huh?

[[But don’t expect the site’s owner to indulge your blind hatred of Donald Trump,]]

Where have I ever expressed ‘blind hatred’ of trump? Evidently you think differences of opinion amounts to ‘blind hatred’?

I told you in another thread you are way over-reacting- but apparently you’re not going to stop and have made it a mission? to follow me around and post your over-reactions to ‘school me’?

[[That’s the point we have reached. If you’re not there yet, you should probably take some time off to do some thinking, instead of just attack, attack, attack the presumptive nominee.]]

I’ve made the point several times- many on this site are acting like berkley university students than can’t seem to deal with opposing viewpoints- I have no wish to ‘take time off’ I’ve doen all the thinking I need on the issue- I believe, in the primaries, that CRuz is the more conservative candidate- you are free to disagree if you liek of course- but i certainly won’t be calling for you to be banned or asking you to leave so that i don’t have to be subject to your viewpoints0 not sure why you feel the need to so so to me? The primaries are not over- there are many of us who believe CRuz stands a much better chance than trump when it comes to discussing actual policy against hilarly and that the left, the msm and the liberal debate moderators will chew trump up because he doesn’t have as solid a grasp on political policies as cruz does- Again, you of course are free to disagree if you like- but calling for me to ‘take time off and think’ is your response to my disagreement with you?

I’ve been through all this with you in the other thread the other day- and you’re just bringign up all again i nthis htread- I dont’ have time to rehash this except to say that trump supporters seem to think that anyone that doesn’t toe the line doesn’t belong on this site- As a ‘conservative site’ that should not be the attitude- We should, somehow, learn to RESPECTFULLY disagree, and not feel so threatened by the other sides positions that we call for them ot either leave, be banned, or get a time out-

You may feel the primaries are over- many do not- many still feel Ted has a chance- and would be a better candidate- I’m truly sorry that so many are so threatened by that that they feel the need to bully others and shout them down, nd yes, even call for them to be banned as many have done in a number of threads-

Trump talks about the 2nd Amendment at every rally.

Every single one—for months.

And without the Second, the rest don’t matter.

So, yes, Trump does talk about the Constitution.
