If Trump Is Nominee.... [my opus]
Self | 5/01/05 | Calpublican

Posted on 05/01/2016 4:50:43 PM PDT by Calpublican

As a 5th generation Republican and Lifelong Conservative the political events of recent years have been frustrating. None are more frustrating than this election cycle.

We prayed and hoped for a real Conservative to counter the leftward pull of Obama. We wanted someone to pull the country to the right so we could possibly be, at least, center America, where we typically like to land in national politics.

We have had several Conservative candidates this cycle, but many who have called themselves "Conservative" have coalesced behind a man who is the farthest thing from Conservative as is imaginable and why? Because of FEAR.

Fear of the other, fear of violence, fear of immigrants. These are valid fears, but when fear turns to hate judgement is clouded. That is what has happened. Instead of standing by principles, "Conservatives" have been drawn to hateful rhetoric. Even after Trump has disavowed his own rhetoric to the NYT& others, the seed has been planted. If one wonders how despots rise to power, this is how. Exactly.

Trump's positions are all Liberal/Leftwing, some experts speculate Neo- Proto- or Ur-Fascist as well . He did not magically become Conservative and he has given ample evidence of this---repeatedly. But the fearful will not or cannot hear it.

If Trump is the nominee which Liberal will I choose? I choose Hillary and will, for the first time in my life, vote for a Democrat for president. Why? Because if Trump wins, pretending to be Conservative, he will destroy Conservatism for 20 yrs. He is not pulling down-ticket Conservatives so his administration would be Liberal to the max.

It is a difficult choice but I am absolutely convinced it is the correct choice. If I have to vote Liberal, I vote strategically Liberal.

They should either seek professional help ...or...end their suffering.

1 out of 10. Poor logic, no drama, no humor. Luckily, as a Californian, your support for Hillary probably won’t matter. When the illegals go back, you will get the benefit of those of us who will make Trump President. If only you could pay the price for your stupidity.

Fear has nothing to do with my choice for president. You are way off base here.

As a 5th generation Republican and Lifelong Conservative the political events of recent years have been frustrating.

If you are a 5th generation republican and take pride in that, I see the problem. Still, all progress starts with telling the truth. Leave here, but leave the RINO Plantation too.

None are more frustrating than this election cycle.

Best election ever!

We prayed and hoped for a real Conservative to counter the leftward pull of Obama.

Better to have prayed and hoped for a patriot who would counter the leftward lurch of the REPUBLICANS and DEMOCRATS. There's where you went off the road and careened down a canyon.

We wanted someone to pull the country to the right so we could possibly be, at least, center America, where we typically like to land in national politics.

And it appears if there is any hope of this, you will need a courageous, thick-skinned vulgarian to do it. Lucky you! We have had several Conservative candidates this cycle, but many who have called themselves "Conservative" have coalesced behind a man who is the farthest thing from Conservative as is imaginable and why? Because of FEAR.

Trump is conservative on the issues that matter for us to continue as a country. He is not a conservative idealogue - nor should you be.

This is fantasy on your part. I have to take points off your opus for fantasy strawmen. This is a serious deduction.

Trump's positions are all Liberal/Leftwing, some experts speculate Neo- Proto- or Ur-Fascist as well . He did not magically become Conservative and he has given ample evidence of this---repeatedly. But the fearful will not or cannot hear it.

"all"??? This is a great demonstration that you are not objective.

If Trump is the nominee which Liberal will I choose?

Ah, a self-identified traitor.

I choose Hillary and will, for the first time in my life, vote for a Democrat for president. Why? Because if Trump wins, pretending to be Conservative, he will destroy Conservatism for 20 yrs. He is not pulling down-ticket Conservatives so his administration would be Liberal to the max.

Your call amigo. Good luck with saving the country, if you choose Hillary. I am more concerned with the country than your liberal party.

It is a difficult choice but I am absolutely convinced it is the correct choice. If I have to vote Liberal, I vote strategically Liberal.

I remember the day when "conservatives" could think clearly.

OK time for your today!

Out of a possible 100 Opus Points, you score a 21!

This is lame dude.

I choose Hillary and will, for the first time in my life, vote for a Democrat for president.

I cannot speak to that, except that your support of the Republic of the United States is suspect to the capriciousness of your 2016 emotions.

You struck me as, once, a more-dedicated citizen.

I have many doubts about Trump but to vote for a Democrat/Socialist? Especially someone as corrupt and inept as Hillary? That is crazy.

I agree with the poster's angst. Not his conclusion. We have to get out of our houses.

You have no business bringing up abortion when the current RINO led congress funded an organization that profits from fetus parts. Abortion is a nonissue in this election, thanks to the GOP.

If Mr. Trump does 1/3 of what he’s promised, he’ll save the country. Conservative is just a label and some politicians wear like draping themselves in a flag.

Mr. Trumps actions speak louder than the political posturing of the the other candidates.

Exactly. It is clear Orwellian Newspeak has infected the GOP. We have the “fiscal conservatism” of Paul Ryan that adds trillions to the debt. We have the “principled conservatism” of Ted Cruz that campaigns to enable the secret trade agenda of the most lawless POTUS in history.

Trump is the best sunshine we’ve ever had on the corrupt GOP. And they hate him for it.
