Ted Cruz: Donald Trump could "encourage riots" in Cleveland if he doesn't win
CBS News ^ | May 1, 2016 | Emily Schultheis

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said in an interview airing Sunday that GOP front-runner Donald Trump may encourage riots if he does not win the Republican nomination in Cleveland this summer.

Asked on CBS' "Face the Nation" if he was concerned about the possibility of violence if he were able to "overthrow" Trump with the delegates in Cleveland, Cruz insisted there wouldn't but said that Trump might try to fan the flames.

"No, it won't, although Donald may do everything he can to encourage riots," he said. "You know, overthrow is such a loaded spin word as ... to bring nothing but chuckles."

Gerald Ford and Abraham Lincoln both won their respective nominations despite coming in with fewer votes than their opponents, he added, so it wouldn't be the first time that the candidate who comes out of a convention is the one who didn't win the most votes during the primaries.

"When we arrive in Cleveland, I'm going have a bunch of delegates," he said. "Donald's going have a bunch of delegates. And it's going be a battle to see who can earn the support of a majority of the delegates elected by the people."

“I am waiting around to gloat

I will gloat when trump either loses or wins, it does not matter

trump will do something so liberal and democrat supporting that none of you, well, maybe 10% of you will still defend him, but 90% of the rest of you will be sick to your stomach

you will realize you forged your own chains

you will relize that despite the lies and slander told about him, Cruz really should have been the guy to unite behind, instead of the lifelong democrat supporter

Funny, so many of you defend his donations as HE IS A BUSINESSMAN!!”

Your chief problem appears to be that you are not very intelligent. Now this is not your fault. One can only play the cards one has been dealt in life.

Good luck !

The campaign can’t possibly keep a timetable if the proposed VP gets in the way of the presidential candidate! ;’)

Nice table. Check Indiana may not matter any more for another view, expressed in graphs that have probability of getting various numbers of delegates (all low probability events, each line being an exact number of delegates).

[ What in the world has happened to this guy?! ]

Losing has brought out who he really is, apparently. He could still have a nice home, high-paying job, etc. But losing has caused him to go all like -——— Jeb Bush. Even to the point of bringing Neil Bush aboard.

The lust for power is a strong one. I saw it happen with a guy we hired as an associate pastor. He would have had a hard time finding another job in our denomination but my pastor wanted him aboard so I helped. By the time it was over, he stabbed us in the back whenever it suited him. It was quite the amazing thing to see; wish I’d never seen it.

[He’s infuriated that Trump is winning because in his mind he’s smarter.]

Jeb Bush Syndrome.

I watched Cruz being interviewed yesterday, and unfortunately for him and our country, he is determined to have a meeting with the destiny that he never assumed would be possible for the (not) smartest man in the room.

I can only wonder what he’s been promised for him to destroy whatever his political career might have been.

I too supported Cruz when he came to the Senate. Now he disgusts and infuriates me.

I think a whole lot of folks have begun to think of him just like that.

It will be interesting to follow the pay increase Mrs. Cruz will get too, from her crooked boss Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein.

I hope that she has a great health care plan there, couples counseling is very expensive.

That is a great idea!

I wish I was closer to some of his rallies now. Friends and I would be happy to tell him, lol.

I had been a Cruz supporter and now I’m wondering if the man needs to be opposed.
