GOP women push Trump on VP pick
The Hill ^ | 4/30/16 | Christina Marcos

Female Republican lawmakers are making the case for Donald Trump to choose a woman as his running mate.

Picking a female vice presidential candidate could help mitigate the damage Trump caused with women voters in the primary, they say, as well as counter Hillary Clinton if she is the Democratic nominee.

Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) offered the idea, somewhat unprompted, at a Capitol Hill event hosted by the Heritage Foundation this week.

When a reporter asked a panel of conservative House Republicans who Trump should choose as his running mate, most lawmakers demurred. But Lummis, the only woman on the dais, didn’t hold back.

“I would suggest a woman, because some of the remarks he has made about women are not going to help him appeal to some of the 53 percent of the voting populace that are women,” Lummis said.

Lummis said Trump would be well served by a running mate with more “discipline” to balance his unpredictability. That would be a better strategy than going the traditional route of choosing a running mate who represents a swing state, she said.

I don't see Trump doing it. Not unless she's good looking.

“GOP Women” are at the root of most of what’s wrong with the party IMHO.

They’re the ones who assemble voting blocks to scuttle pro-life legislation. They’re the ones who, according to Rush Limbaugh, browbeat and henpeck their GOP husbands to the point that they don’t dare actually DO anything about abortion.

How funny would it be if also said: “Carly, would you run on the ticket with me?” That would really toss a hair ball in to the rink. Cruz: “Sorry hombre, she’s already spoken for.” Shoot out at the okee dokee corral Nah. Cause then k-sick would get the nod.

I love Sarah, but it’s not going to be her.

The media has simply beat-up her image to a point where she would be a drag on the ticket. I think she knows this.

Besides, she has a special-needs child, and a husband who was cracked-up in an accident and is facing a long recovery. Her focus needs to be at home.

Let me be clear that by “GOP Women” I am not referring to you. I am referring to the conniving, ladder-climbing apparatchiks who come up with stupid ideas like this one.

I personally think Jan Brewer would be a brilliant choice. We’ll see though...

Don’t care what plumbing they have, but I’d like them to have large quantities of. . . .testicular fortitude, no matter WHICH set of plumbing they have. . .

Traditionally, the VP choice is strategic. Not a tactical ploy in a battle to even get a nomination. It is a choice for the winner, the nominee, to cement the case against the Democrat opponent.

Cruz wasted that trying to make a case he should be nominee in a contest that he has already lost with the voters.

I’d bet money on Susana Martinez from NM.

Kills two birds with one stone.

Rush Limbaugh once said, “Hillary reminds every man of his ex-wife and she reminds every woman of her bitchy aunt.”

Or similar words.

Couple of things count against that. Trump's comments on her appearance makes that pick highly unlikely, even if Fiorina would do it. Second, two non-politicians on the ticket would be hard for most people to swallow. Third, Trump has said he needs an insider to help with Congress.

I recall Trump saying that for VP, he wanted someone with legislative experience (since he has none) who could help him get bills through Congress. Governors aren’t going to fit that criteria (Martinez, Brewer, Haley, Christie, etc.) & neither will people like Ben Carson. Maybe he has dumped legislative experience as a criteria now that he’s in the depths of the campaign & sees what/who most with “legislative” experience really are ... corruptocrats at best. Jeff Sessions seems to me to be the logical pick if Trump is still thinking the way he was earlier on. Trump doesn’t need a woman as his VP ... in fact, I personally think it would be a sign of PC pandering if he chose one.

I respect the heck out of Sarah Palin, but I do not believe she would be a wise choice for Trump. She needs to remake her public image to undo some of the damage allowed (and promulgated, in some cases) by her handlers in the 2008 campaign. McCain’s people and the left (media and democrats alike) were allowed to define her in ways that should be grounds for political firing squads.

I would also like to note that GOP women who are pushing identity politics are idiots. If you have a specific person in mind, then promote that person as a potential running mate - don’t make having female body parts the crux of “qualification”.
