Martinez would also add geographical balance to a Trump ticket. So would Lummis herself, for that matter. People forget that western women are a different breed from those in the east-- strong, independent and deserving of respect because they earn it, not just demand it.

The contrast between someone like Lummis, who built the family fortune with cattle and other business ventures, and Hillary, who built hers from looting the public treasury and influence peddling, couldn't be more clear.

Wyoming is one of the most solidly conservative and sensible states in the country and women have had the vote here longer than anywhere else. Yes, it is only three electoral votes, but Trump has run weakly in most of the Great Plains and Rocky Mountain states, so either Lummis or Martinez is a good choice here.

Another factor in favor of Lummis is that she is strongly pro-life and was one of the few in congress who didn't run and hide in the tall grass when the media blamed the government shutdown on the GOP in 2013. That, alone, distinguishes her from most of the pack.
