Question re: Cruz/GOPe poaching delegates?

Posted on 04/19/2016 7:48:13 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

I heard Cruz saying tonight that he has "conservative activists" working the delegate to woo them over to his side. Is this true? Isn't it much more likely that the GOPe insiders are working the delegates? They control the party apparatus, not conservative activists.

I daresay only the political wonks will “understand” the “process” by which he is harvesting, to their minds, unearned delegates.

I cannot see that going over terribly well with the average Joe voter.

Perception is very powerful.

People will be enraged and enraging your potential voters is tactically stupid.

No one is whining, just pointing out how pathetic the Cruz campaign has become.

If you are trying to attack Trump with those charges you are delusional!

Cruz is the one trying to win no matter what the cost!

Cruz is against the 'little people' who actually vote!

Making money is an American virtue, it creates jobs and wealth, unlike the parasite class like Cruz who live off of the Government.

Cruz is the one with the pride since he refuses to recognize he cannot win.

Trump doesn't bully anyone, you sound like a little wimp who is intimated by sucessfull men.

I am sorry, but you Cruz guys don't get to define what a Conservative is.

We won't vote for Cruz if he just stays in to block Trump and then try to win it at the convention.

That is not the spirit of the primaries.

If Cruz continues his course of action he won’t get reelected in Texas!

I dont really care what you do. You Trump guys dont get to define what a conservative is either. And you cant change the rules mid election.

Just because Trump thinks he can change the rules does not mean he can. I find it hard to believe he does not know what the rules are. He just decided to ignore them and blame Cruz for them. Cruz did not write the rules he is just better at using them.

I am a true Christian and I support Trump.

So now we have to take a religious litmus test as well as an ideological one?

That is why we call you Cruz supporters nuts!

We aren't changing any rules!

The fact is when a candidate cannot realistically reach the majority of delegates he is suppose to drop out!

He doesn't plan for convention fights!

Cruz is not going to win by trying to win at the convention against the front runner who will have hundreds of delegates more then him.

As for Conservative, what isn't conservative about wanting to build up our military, build a war to protect our borders, end bad trade deals, keep out Muslims, and end obamacare.

Are these liberal positions?

I did not say they were not. You stated that Cruz supporters dont get to decide what a conservative was. Neither do Trump supporters. You Trump supporters tend to think every thing you say is the truth. It is not.

From what I can gather the delegates are a mix of party insiders and grass-roots activists. The delegations probably reflect the character of their state in whether they’re more liberal or conservative, and depending on what the delegate selection process is in that state. The ones that go through the caucus and convention process seem to be more grass-roots than ones who get the job by more of a hand-picked process by party officials. Ron Paul obviously used the caucus process to get a lot of his delegates in last time. The delegates overall seem to lean conservative and have fought at the convention to keep the platform pro-life, for example, against challenges.
