Trump campaign manager will not be prosecuted, sources say
Politico ^

A Florida prosecutor has decided not to prosecute Donald Trump’s campaign manager for battery after a March run-in with former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields, sources with knowledge of the situation told POLITICO.

The decision not to press charges against Corey Lewandowski is scheduled to be announced on Thursday afternoon by Palm Beach County State Attorney David Aronberg.

Fields may still pursue a defamation case against Lewandowski, a source said.

Fields filed a police report last month after Lewandowski grabbed her by the arm and moved her out of Trump’s way following a press conference at Trump National Gold Club in Jupiter. She said he left bruises on her arm. Police later charged Lewandowski with simple battery, releasing video from surveillance cameras that shows Lewandowski reaching for and grabbing Fields.

Aronberg would not comment, but in a POLITICO interview last week, he pointed out that Jupiter police had a low “probable cause” standard to cite Lewandowski for battery. But the responsibility for moving forward with a full-blown prosecution rested with Aronberg’s office, which had to consider whether a crime occurred and whether they believed a jury of Floridians would prosecute.

“We have a higher standard to go forward with a prosecution,” he said.

Oh seriously? That statement is beyond asinine. Comparing a non issue to illegal immigrants? Every once in awhile you make cogent posts despite your well known Cruz infatuation, but this one is beyond ridiculous.

Claiming that he should be prosecuted, as you imply, means that every day people should be prosecuted from the simple act of going to Walmart, a concert, or any crowded place.

You people are so desperate it’s funny.

Well duh - even if I am not a Trump supporter at this time, I didnt see anything to prosecute there other than possibly wearing an ugly jacket. So far, that is not a prosecutable offense!

“Higher standard?” Hell, they had no standard to even bring this stupid case.

One wonders where Corey's "feet, fist, and teeth" were in this alleged battery:

It appears that Cruz supporters have learned that lying thing well...........

Well Cruz said something along the lines of ‘the atmosphere of a campaign starts at the top’. ;)

Claiming that he should be prosecuted,

I am not saying he should be prosecuted - I think the whole thing was kind of silly, and never would have gone that far if he had just apologized. But I am saying that a decision to not prosecute is NOT the same as saying he was innocent.

People complain about Trump giving to Democrats but incidents like this are exactly why you want to have the ability to pick up the phone and call in a favor.

Apologies from Ted’s supporters tar and feathering this guy before he had his day in court? Crickets...

Why is it, that every time there is a thread like this, someone jumps in on post #2 or 3 and says "Where are all the Cruz apologies?" Most Cruz supporters didn't bother tochime in at all. Some, like me said FROM THE BEGINNING, that this was a bogus charge (you can look it up). Finally, it is not expected for people to come back and apologize.

Earlier I responded to a Trump supporter expecting a Trump win in Wisconsin, and I told him I lived there and figured Cruz was going to win, and invited him to revisit the thread after the election. He didn't take me up on it. He didn't have to. Not every exoneration of a Trump or Cruz staffer needs INSTANT insinuation against those who support the other side.

We are conservatives. This is a conseravtive site. JimRob says "Go Trump!" "Go Cruz!" Our energies are better spent in places other than bashing each other.

Wait a minute: you guys were screaming that even though the “damage” was a couple of minor bruises that you get from bumping up into someone in a crowd, it was “technically” and “legally” a crime.

So “technically” and “legally” is has been ruled not a crime.

Sorry, you can’t have it both ways. If you’re talking right and wrong, what SHE did was wrong. If you’re talking law, what HE did was not illegal. You’re wrong, 100% on this one no matter how you spin it.

Levin outlined the story briefly, then continued, “What I’m supposed to do today, folks, is trash Michelle Fields … I’m supposed to pretend that the Jupiter police department is controlled by leftists and they’re out to get Donald Trump. This is the crap that’s been coming over the transom to me … I would ask those of you with wives, with girlfriends, with mothers, with sisters, with daughters, if some guy touched their arm that way, would you think it’s no big deal? Where her forearms are bruised?

“But I am saying that a decision to not prosecute is NOT the same as saying he was innocent.”

lol, you keep speaking nonsense. What you’re mentioning is irrelevant after the video was released, clearly showing there was nothing to prosecute.

“is like saying an illegal is not an illegal “

No, deciding not to prosecute means they don’t think they can win. There is a lower probable cause standard in the decision to arrest. You read the article, right?
An illegal alien is by definition ... illegal, while the lefty prosecutor here isn’t sure he can pack the his jury with Cruzlims.

Face it. It’s just another instance of fact & logic-challenged `Trump derangement syndrome’ sufferers winding up with egg on their faces.

Trump’s lawyers are licking their chops, hoping this woman files a defamation lawsuit.

Fla. Stat. § 57.105. The statute provides in part:

(1) Upon the court’s initiative or motion of any party, the court shall award a reasonable attorney’s fee to be paid to the prevailing party in equal amounts by the losing party and the losing party’s attorney on any claim or defense at any time during a civil proceeding or action in which the court finds that the losing party or the losing party’s attorney knew or should have known that a claim or defense when initially presented to the court or at any time before trial:

(a) Was not supported by the material facts necessary to establish the claim or defense; or,

(b) Would not be supported by the application of then-existing law to those material facts.

You guys would crack me up, if you were not determined to hand the WH over to Clinton/Sanders.

I predict that Mark Levin is going to be furious, and will yell at his audience for a week straight over this.

LOL. Standard mode for Levin.
