REENA FLORES CBS NEWS March 26, 2016 Obama Condemns Attempts To "Stigmatize" Muslims In Wake Of Brussels Attacks
With at least one Republican candidate for the White House endorsing patrols of U.S. Muslim neighborhoods in the wake of this week's deadly bombings in Brussels, President Obama is cautioning against such approaches, saying any such proposals would "stigmatize" Muslim-Americans.
"As we move forward in this fight, we have to wield another weapon alongside our airstrikes, our military, our counterterrorism work and our diplomacy," the president said in a video released Saturday. "That's the power of our example."
Mr. Obama called on the U.S. to "reject any attempt to stigmatize Muslim-Americans, and their enormous contributions to our country and our way of life."
"Such attempts are contrary to our character, to our values and to our history as a nation built around the idea of religious freedom," he said.
While he did not name Texas Sen. Ted Cruz specifically, he alluded to the GOP presidential contender's plan to police pockets of Muslims in the U.S., which Cruz has defended despite widespread criticism from members of his own party.
The president noted that such actions are a "counterproductive" approach to defeating extremists abroad because it "plays right into the hands of terrorists who want to turn us against one another, who need a reason to recruit more people to their hateful cause."

We’ll stigmatize a belief system if it embraces fomenting such things, or nodding and winking such things.
If Muslims want to reinvent Islam so that it doesn’t do such things, they are more than welcome to do so. But excuses we will not buy. The gospel never did this.
Unless muslims repudiate or change large parts of their book, there can be no peace.
Their book commands them otherwise.

So I hope I understand what he’s saying.
1. There are certain strands of Muslims who hate us and want to kill us by any means necessary.
2. Not all Muslims are terrorists, but those who are try to hide in Muslim communities.
3. These Muslims, who already hate us and want us exterminated, will be offended if we increase surveillance of Muslim communities to try to ferret out the terrorists.
4. So because Muslim terrorists will be offended, we can’t do anything about the Muslim terrorists, because the greatest sin of all is if we offend those who hate us and want us dead.
5. The Muslims who hate us will use our reactions against them to recruit more terrorists, so that means we are not allowed to say or do anything in response to terror cells in our midst.
Clearly I am missing something, Mr. Obama. Please help me understand your logic.
